I know we all have different experiences with our treatment and protocols.
I have had IV antibiotics 3 times. My doctors and their staff have always made it clear that I detox my liver. Not only that, they have always had the IV nurse draw and send blood work weekly. Standard panel's but they always first looked at how my liver was functioning.
They also had me taking Milk Thistle to detox my liver.
During the last treatment it was discovered I also had Latent TB for which I began INH. It really was kicking my butt. Blood work showed my liver to be toxic. The INH was stopped immediately. The Doc apologized saying he should have known better than adding the INH.
So here is my concern. My friend is also receiving IV Rocephin and Flagy. His NP does not draw blood weekly and offered him no direction on Liver detox. My last 2 docs made it clear to me it was important for me to detox in every way possible.
I was also told by them as far as Lyme and co's you need to treat one at time. Mainly because treating all at once was more toxic than a patient can tolerate.
My Buddy is also taking Bactrim, Malorone, Valtrex and the list goes on and on.These are all toxic to the liver. Not to mention adding a cholesterol that has a medium alert for interaction that the pharmacy made him aware of. The NP office told him it was not a big deal.
Should I be so stunned? He also pays over $300.00 a visit. The NP impressed him by the 26 vials of blood she drew on his 1st visit which ended up costing over $500.00. She was pressing him to go with IV treatment. I personally think he is being seen and taken by a Sharlotin.
Weird part is he has also been seeing an Iliads LLMD($175.00 a visit), She has had him on orals for a couple of years, recommended IV but he admits he was not ready for IV, but says she did push it on him either. He was planning on cancelling his appointment with LLMD next week.I have urged him not too.
Most pharmacies would not service him because the IV drugs were prescribed by an NP. It was the same with the home infusion companies. Thus he has a Nurse that is not an infusion nurse. He is infusing Rocephin via an IV push and the Flagyl is being delivered by gravity! I screamed at him where the medi-balls?
This is not what I would call the "Gold Standard" I am worried I overwhelmed him with my concerns. His speech sounds like he is on a ton of pain killers.Which he is not. His responses are very delayed but he is in "there" just need to have patience to get a coherent response.
The poor guy wants to know if it is herx? I am sure part of it is and God knows, I was out of it too.
Your thoughts and insights are appreciated.
God Bless and Be well,
Paul

- Perhaps this would help your friend to understand how the liver works and the absolute importance of having liver support on hand with any medication protocol.
LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too. -

- Paul,
your concerns go deeper than just if he'll add needed supports. I'm sorry to hear of his situation and understand your vital concerns. It is sometimes just such a heavy burden to know so much about what should be done and watch others not have the information or care they deserve. -
