I had the MTHFR test done and found I'm heterozygous for the mutation. Thus on paper my enzyme pathway would be operating at ~50% in theory.
I had a methylation test done and found out I am indeed under methylating. My doc recommended sam-e, methyl folate and a form of b-6.
Has anyone else tried this? I have suffered from chronic low grade depression my whole life so the Sam-e supplement sounds promising. I went off my antidepressants so I'm able to do a high dose of Sam-e and it has helped my mood a bit. I know you need to be careful taking Sam-e and SSRIs due to serotonin sickness.
But I haven't head much about sam-e here and it might be useful for some Lyme sufferors and those with mild to moderate depression that aren't being treated with antidepressants.
Anyone try it?
The price if Sam-e is a little outrageous though!

I took it some years back, before I started getting some decent lyme treatment (before I was diagnosed with lyme). I felt it was pretty good.

I've taken it for years; it is good.
Now brand, or Life Extension, has cheaper prices. I think Now is cheaper. It's still not cheap, but relatively cheaper.
You can also take TMG, which is cheap, which is supposed to turn into Sam-e. I do both. That way, you can get away with a little less Sam-e.
Watch out for getting too hyper if you take too much of either, though.
