Having reactivated epstein-barre on top of lyme has been the most physically devastating thing to happen to me.

I feel sure this came on from immense stress.

I can't take lysine or olive leaf right now. Probably valtrex either as i assume it will cause die off. Everything causes a herx even at low doses and it's too much

I can't take herxing right now. I really could use some good advice on building my immune system in a gentle way? Don't know what to do about the ongoing stress.

Any ideas? I read about mushrooms for the immune system but I'm going to assume they cause a healing reaction too??

Oooooh, I'm so thrilled to see your note for "gentle" immune support.

My body recoils (nearly) a bunch of times a day when I see posts asking how to "boost" this or "blast" that or "how to flush (a body organ!)" or "stomp out" something else.

As for my favorite topic: medicinal mushrooms -

No, they do not cause a "healing reaction" as you wonder. Source matters, of course, to be sure of their growing methods, etc.

Talk with your LLMD or LL ND about anything you consider, though, as to how it would work with whatever else you are taking - and if the one(s) you mention are the best choice for you.

Dr. Burrascano has recommended two mushroom formulas for many years as part of the support plan for those with lyme. See

page 29, last paragraph: Cordyceps &
page 30, second paragraph: Reishi mushroom

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Basically, though, medicinal mushrooms should be gentle enough for you when used properly and the right ones for your body, starting slowly, this category can be wonderful. Like a nurturing and nourishing tonic.

EATING mushrooms is also a grand idea for many reasons. As you mention "on going stress" and the toll, Cordyceps is also good for adrenal support. I'd start there - at a very low dose.

And also consider Ashwagandha later to add to it.

My mushroom notes are a bit of a mess so it might take a while to sort through for more detail for you. Two places you might start now would be

CORDYCEPS

http://oneearthherbs.squarespace.com/important-herbs/ashwagandha-root-withania-somnifera-convolvulus-species.html

ASHWAGANDHA [not a mushroom yet excellent adrenal support, and gentle]

While support is a good thing, and clearly you can't continue on a too rough path. I hope you have (or find) a good LL doctor to guide you with how to treat underlying infections. And one who can think outside the box to find the right antimicrobial methods for your body.

A rife machine might be considered if you have trouble with the chemical nature of Rx or strong antimicrobial herb protocols. Maybe a different kind of liver support could be of help to tolerate treatment better.

You might start with a search for all of Stephen H. Buhner's books. He's a LL master herbalist who has done excellent research in this area.

Gentle immune support - Host Defense has 17 mushrooms in it and my doc recommends it for the immune system.

Also, mushrooms are great, in general, like shiitake, maitake, etc.

Also Vit C and Vit D are gentle and good for the immune system. I do the NOW liquid Vit D drops.

Went to amazon to buy the cordymax by pharmanex but several reviews said it caused tachycardia. Any information/experience on this?

Two of 31 Amazon reviews for CordyMax (from three different listings) do mention experiencing tachycardia.

Variables would be multiple to consider for individual reaction as neither say what else they might be taking, how much of this they take, if they wash it down with a Red Bull, or double Latte, etc.

I do have a concern with some who say this is a nice "boost" for energy. This is not supposed to be a boost at all, but a base foundation support. I have to wonder if some might not be taking more than suggested.

Still, I see your concern. You could open a capsule, take half out and mix in water to start.

Brands that I am familiar with and trust from iHerb. Also at VitaCost.com

This is what I take and do very well with it. If you do order this or any powder ask if they can send you a GRAM SPOON so that it's easier to measure out dose. I've also used various of their powders over the years.

They have excellent Chlorella, too. That's a very nice foundation support as well.

so glad Keebler mentioned mushrooms

I use Lion's Mane to help regrow nerves

there are many references online - here is just one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23510212

also Cordyceps, Chaga, Reishi - you can look them up - there are better descriptions of what they do than I can give

look at Chaga in addition to the ones Keebler mentioned

I get mine from http://myriadmycology.com/

I am not sure how each herb/mushroom/supplement affects me individually because I take so many together and I am not willing to risk my improvements by testing each one for testing sake

I feel **much better** when I am on everything my herbalist recommended
