Hello,
I am Lyme and babesia positive, and my doctor just ran some extra blood tests and it showed EBV as positive (for IGG).
To my knowledge I never had this, but it showed >600 (should be less than 21).
I wonder how common this is to see if I didn't even know I had it?
Is this maybe adding to my fatigue?
Or is this super common (like chicken pox) and most of the world has been exposed?
Thanks!

Yes, as you suspect, EBV "is this super common (like chicken pox) and most of the world has been exposed" and when one is stressed, especially with other infections, EBV reactivates.

It's very common for most with lyme to have this as part of the mix to manage. The Rx used for lyme will not affect viruses, though.

You might ask your doctor (a LLMD, I hope) about adding - from the San Diego area, actually -

A very specific brand of Olive Leaf extract (or a brand that uses the same methods of growing, harvesting, processing) - Seagate. Detail:

"Chronic viral infections may be active in the chronic patient, due to their weakened immune response. PCR testing, and not serologies, should be used for diagnosis. Commonly seen viruses include HHV-6, CMV, and EBV." (p. 5 of Burrascano)

So, here Burrascano says that you need the PCR test to diagnose you. A serology will not do. Serology is the identification of antibodies in the serum of your blood. You don't care if you have antibodies. To determine that you have an active infection, you need a PCR. Everybody likely has antibodies to EBV.

Of course, if you have the symptoms and you have had lyme for at least 4 or more years, why spend the money. Just get treated for lyme and its coinfections and your immune system will then likely be able to get rid of the EBV for you.

And, the symptoms are listed here:

"DNA VIRUSES (HHV-6, EBV, CMV)
· Persistent fatigue, made worse with exercise.
· Sore throat, lymphadenopathy, and other viral-like complaints.
· May see elevated liver enzymes and low WBC counts.
· Autonomic dysfunction." (p. 27)

Once lyme compromises your immune system, you can catch many chronic viral infections that you never had before.

You are one sick lady and need to get to a great lyme specialist as soon as you can.

The fatigue that lyme gives you is so much worse than the word "fatigue" can convey. Then, add EBV on top of it and you can just imagine the fatigue level.
