I don't have the money to join a gym and don't know anyone with a weight set, but I found a yoga studio where I can take classes for $5. Weights and yoga are not anything alike, but yoga at least isn't aerobic -- something's better than nothing, right?

Never underestimate the power of yoga!
It hasn't been around for 5,000 years for nothing...
Yoga was instrumental in my recovery.
Go easy, and be sure to focus on the breathwork...

Yoga is really a great thing. I will generally will practice 4-5 times a week. I've been doing it for around 10 years now and since I know the postures I now mostly just follow online videos. gaia.com is a subscription service that has good instructors.
Also, I recently cancelled my gym membership and started using resistance bands instead of weight training. You really can get a great strength training workout from them and they are very inexpensive. It's just a matter of learning how to hit certain muscle groups while anchoring the band. There are a lot of youtube videos on how to use them.

Besides the many benefits that will come from Yoga, such as breathing and relaxation, lymph drainage,... many of the positions will tone and strengthen the body - and are weight bearing (plank, downward facing dog, tree pose, warrior, chair pose, etc).
I think a few classes for $5 might be a very good investment! I have some Yoga DVD's that I use regularly and I usually feel better after I have done them. Good luck to you with this!

Is the yoga $5.00 per class? If so, just one class per week will cost you $20.00 per month. You can find gym memberships in that price range just about everywhere these days.
Personally they are both great, but consistency is important in whatever you choose.
