To be blunt,

My bowels are so slow that I back up, then it takes me days to figure out how to get it all out without having to starve myself.

I had gastric bypass in 2003, so even partial digestion of my food is a huge issue even before Lyme.

Histamine intolerance is also a huge issue for me. Histamine foods also cause my tinnitus to go out of control. Fermented foods are out.

Taking Betaine conflicts with a medication I am on to treat lyme.

Most digestive aid type foods/supplements are in conflict with histamine intolerance.

Been working hard at lowering pain medication and changing up my diet to address most of these issues, but I am currently lost.

Ideas and suggestions? I keep on asking 'professionals' but they have no clue about histamine intolerance.

Thanks!

-Ede

I would think the pain meds are the biggest issue right now.

Have you tried taking a lot of magnesium oxide?

I take Source Naturals Essential Enzymes. They seem to be OK even with my histamine issues.

Pain meds are maybe 2-3 times a month and only after I have tried everything else.

I have Source Naturals Essential Enzymes and my intestines are not super impressed.

Was just reading The Low Histamine Chef website and she mentioned Bifidobacterium infantis as a possible strain that actually helps lower histamines in infants and possibly help heal the lower intestines.

Full article here:

http://thelowhistaminechef.com/these-probiotic-strains-lower-histamine-rather-than-raising-it/

I may try this, my intestines are pretty damaged from all the antibiotics I take.

The only problem with trying something new is that it all cost so dang much without a guarantee. But the other cost is my poor health by not providing it what it needs to heal.

Would it be harmful if you chugged a 3-4 cups of water in the morning, when you wake up, to push through bowel content?

I don't even tolerate the infantis well. I have a bifidus only probiotic, but it even has too much histamine for me, even when I'm supplementing DAO.

Do you get enough magnesium? I use a spray so it doesn't have to be digested.

How are your other mineral levels?

If you work on the constipation, your digestion may be better. It is something that I always have to work on.

I take Reglan before each meal to help with my gastroparesis. I also need to take some Mag and Miralax to keep my bowels moving.

My doctor says to take the Miralax until your BM's are comfortably and controllably loose. He says that firm can be constipated, even if "regular".

Now brand "Digest Ultimate" is a good plant based digestive enzyme that has helped me when I remember to take it.

Or better can you get an RX for Creon or similar pancreatic enzyme supplement?
