About to start this week on my anti-amoeba/ anti-protozoal protocol.
Part of it calls for Ivermectin and Primaquine, though I keep finding different info on whether or not its safe to take every day for months on end.
Though I haven't read anything to suggest that its unsafe to take reasonable doses of these 2 drugs daily, since their half lives are not that long, so there'd be no buildup of the drug to induce toxicity.
My plan was to take 12mg of Iver and 30mg of Primaquine, both considered moderately strong doses, every day until symptoms change/resolve [of course common sense reigns, if I'm at month 2/3 with no changes I would stop].

That seems like a high dose of ivermectin. I am only on 4 mg and it has been giving me a headache!

I took primaquine for a couple of months. LLMD had me check liver every 2 weeks with blood tests. I was on it with rifampin (and some other things I can't remember). Primaquine caused my worst herx yet.
I was also just finished two weeks of 12mg of ivermectin 4x/day. I took a once per week course back in February, and I only ever reacted to the first and second doses (like 3-6mg). At one point I got up to 52mg in one dose. I am not sure it did anything for me after those first couple of doses.

thx for the replies so far, so it seems like primaquine is safe to take daily.
And 12mg of Ivermectin daily is not that much apparently? I weigh 175lbs, 6"0 male. Perhaps if I dont react to 12mg a day I should try 12mg 3x a day?

If you have a high parasite load, even a daily dose of 12 mg, might cause bad die-off after a few doses. I am feeling really lousy after 5 doses of 15 mg over four weeks.
I don't know that it is safe to take Iver every day for several months. If you do, you had better get your liver checked at regular intervals.

its been a while since I been here but I took primaquine almost daily for several years -
the first time you take it be ready for herx reaction it can be very strong- will likely make you very cold -
I have never taken Ivermectin
