I know. topic sounds awful but it's true.
I'm positive, absolutely definitely positive, I am now systemic with candida.
I have yeast from pubic to back. this new obgyn, a woman, gave me nystatin cream and a steroid cream. said to apply twice daily for two weeks.
I told her about my other yeast symptoms and she would not give me diflucan. said it wasn't necessary.
I've begged primary for it. he says systemic just doesnt exist, like lyme.
I've been to er. cant get it there either. personally I think drs talk to each other. thats why I get "the room" at the end of the hall at the er. dang...
what do I have to do to get diflucan? die????? I don't want to be labelled a drug seeker but man, what symptoms or keywords don't these dang drs understand?
I had my teeth cleaned on monday, mammo on thursday and complete obgyn on friday. this new dr was harsh. I was bleeding when I got home. in pain all night. she pressed really hard on my abdomen. I'm always tender and sore there. thank heavens i'll only go every two years.
was this jus too much in one week?

Sorry you can't find any decent doctors. Keep looking for one with a more holistic approach. I know you have them in your area.

you know I just read somewhere on the web that this bunch of drs are saying obgyn exams are not necessary for women after 65. also 60 percent of women experience moderate to severe pain.
only have an exam if you are having symptoms of infection.
ah no kidding doc.

If you have ovaries or a uterus, it's got to be necessary at least every few years.

When you have vaginal dryness, the tissue atrophies and then cannot stand the touch and stretching of an internal exam.
That is what the Vagifem pill I posted about is for. You would no longer have vaginal dryness, no longer have pain with an internal exam, and would have lubrication to protect you from vaginal infections including yeast.
All of these problems come from lack of estrogen to the vaginal tissues.
You should not fear having a little estrogen pill applied to the vagina. The applicator for the pill is smaller than a pencil.
You still need checked for uterine cancer as you get older. It is more prevalent the older you get. Same for ovarian cancer.
You really need to ask for a Rx for the vagifem. In about a month or 2, you should be much better.
I was so atrophied from lyme disease that I could not stand anything to touch my crotch. I could not wear jeans, pants of any kind, or pantyhose. I had to wear skirts or dresses and thigh-high hose to work every day.
I could not cross my legs--it caused pain immediately. Even the amount of walking you do daily caused irritation and pain by the end of the day because everything down there was so dry.
(Lyme had given me a false menopause.)
This all changed once I got to a good gyn who gave me Vagifem.
Also, when you have vaginal yeast, that will make an exam painful as the tissues are already in pain. So sorry for you, Randi. I can relate.
Good lyme treatment (but not lousy lyme treatment) got rid of my vaginal atrophy plus me severe dry eye and severe dry mouth. Lyme dried up all of my mucous membranes!

Alternative docs can run a test to see if you have candida. If you do, the test will show what works to kill your specific infection.

I got Diflucan from my former doctor when I was first started on Doxy by showing him a protocol that a doctor was using of Doxy and Diflucan, but my current GP refused to prescribe it just like yours.
The only times I have managed to get any were when I had an LLMD.
TerryK is right that some of the comprehensive stool tests check your yeast alongside some herbals etc to see what might help your strain the best. My LLMD at the time thought that freeze dried garlic was the nearest alternative to Diflucan and another practitioner I had liked Thorne's SF722.
If you are using herbs etc for candida, I believe in rotating them.
