Hello everyone,

I am still having motor neuron type muscle atrophy despite the over 1 year of IV antibiotics which I did 3 years ago or so. Though Bicillin injections might be the best way to cross the BBB (as I don't believe I want to try IV and all the fight to get it again). Anyone know of the cheapest source for Bicillin LA, potentially online or even the powder form I have read about. $1200 for 10 doses of 1.2 million U is extremely unaffordable.....Thank you in advance.

Good lord! It looks like there's a shortage.

I used GoodRX coupons awhile back. It brought the cost down to about $700.

I wish I had some good advice to give.

The problem with the powder is it's not in a time-release suspension. That's what makes bicillin LA so effective.

If you do a google search for "bicillin animals" you'll see a lot of threads.

Sorry, you're going through this.

Hey you Blue Kentucky Girl...

So sorry you are having these problems. Nasty stuff!

In April 2016 the NY Health Department issued an alert stating there were manufacturing problems with Bicillin and hence, a severe shortage.

They instructed doctors to make syphilis a priority, not Lyme, of course.

Can you consider something else for now? Don't know when this situation will be resolved and also don't know how much the price will drop IF it does resolve later on.

Unfortunately that was the price of bicillin-la before the shortage. There shouldn't be a shortage now, bicillin became available again much sooner than predicted.

People all over the world use powdered benzathine penicillin suspension. It still takes much longer to absorb than other penicillin types. My llmd says it functions the same as bicillin-la.
