So I took this test a couple weeks ago and got my results fast because I paid extra. One thing I want to say about it is that it cost a lot of money ( 575 for express processing) but it told me something really invaluable.
They found pieces of OSPA in my urine. What that means is that not only do I have Lyme, I actually have ACTIVE Lyme. If my symptoms weren't enough to tell me I was not recovered then shedding OSPA is surefire way to know you are NOT better yet.
The other test that will find OSPA by PCR in urine is the new nanotrap. This is a harder test to get since the LLMDs have gotten together and insisted that this testing be part of Lyme research so that they can affirm that people with active OSPA are still symptomatic.
Everybody has big dreams that the nanotrap will show up in general practice but I doubt that's gonna happen for fifteen years if ever.
But DNA connexions will tell you the same thing without any doctor. 425 for a regular run, hits all coinfections and returns in 2 to 3 weeks. If you THINK you're better but you're not sure, this would be a good way to tell.

Just another 2 cents: I paid the $425; results took almost 5 weeks for me.
Customer Service: Email and phone messages went unanswered.
Maybe they're great and just "backed-up." Maybe too new to have an established track record. More Wild West. Who can say about accuracy, or meaningfulness of results.
Yes, being able to test w/o a doctor is helpful, but maybe also why their customer service is what it is for patients managing their own testing.

I used to work in a DNA lab. Like all PCR, if you get a hit then it's there -- if you don't, it might still be there but not in the sample. We're really big compared to microbes.
This is basically like what happens when you put your blood under a microscope and see stuff. It works, you just need the equipment. PCR and primers can be purchased and the results tell the truth. The only problem is that the price of this technology is outrageous, otherwise we'd all have one.
I think I got lucky -- that day I peed into a cup some OSPA and some E Chaffeensis came along for the ride. When I got PCR on my blood for Lyme through Igenex it was negative.
As far as customer service -- I emailed with followup questions and got nothing back, not even a "we'll get back to you."

My LLND told me today that DNA Connexions is running a 4-6 week backlog right now cuz everyone's getting that test done.
DNA Connexions' test is different than the nanotrap, right?
Does anyone know what the reliability is like for this test? Supposed to be better than IgeneX, but how much?
Is it worth the $425? For comparison, I decided the IgeneX testing wasn't worth the cost for me personally due to the high false negative and me having to borrow the money for the test.
DNA Connexions costs more, but it also tests for co-infections, which is awesome. If it's significantly more accurate than IgeneX, then I'll consider it worth it. Thoughts?

My doc said everyone is testing positive with this...has not had a negative yet .... maybe everyone does have lyme ...
