I have Adrenal Insufficiency and flatline cortisol. I was prescribed Cortef 5mg 2x a day along with some adaptogens called adrenal guard. It contains :

Cordyceps. 800mg
Panax Ginsing 400mg
Eleuthero 300mg
Ashwagandha150mg
Rhodiola 100mg
Licorice root 100mg

All these seem to LOWER Cortisol even further. Why would I want to do that with already too low cortisol. Perhaps it allows the adrenals to rest while on Cortef?

Adrenal herbs can be a bit confusing. That is an excellent herbal formula.

They are all ADAPTOGENS - as they adapt to what your body needs. Like a good meal will feed your body in many ways and support you,

these kind of adaptogen herbs are food that actually feed your adrenal system so that it can more appropriately respond - they can help when you need more, or less. Yet they help in many ways to help adrenal system stabilize and support you.

At times during the day, your body will fluctuate. More detail here:

That's an excellent combo of herbs! Like Keebler said, the herbs are adaptogens.
