Has anyone here had sharp top part of arm and shoulder pain when moving a certain way. It's like a nerve gets impinged in a trigger point in the muscle.....I hope that is what it is. I've had it before, practiced better posture, etc and it went away.

Not sure if it went away cause of posture or because it was part of lyme cycle symptoms. Chiropractor said it could be a sharp bone that has grown and hits the nerve every now and then. I just started antibiotics and thought maybe it was part of a herx. Any thoughts? Thanks : > )

YES. It's painful! Mine started with minocycline. It's more in the right shoulder blade for me, but it's like you describe. Moving it the wrong way sends a shooting pain through it. It comes and goes, depending on what treatment I'm on.

It does feel like a nerve getting pinched or something, but I don't think that what it really is since it cycles with everything else. It's really kinda strange.

Mine started with a bactrim herx a couple years ago. I was eventually dx'ed with impingement and probable bursitis. It has gone away for weeks at a time to always come back.

When I restarted bactrim the same acute pain came with it in the exact same area but not nearly as bad or long lasting as the first time. The herx pain started around my shoulder blade area and traveled to the top of my shoulder where it mostly stays. Pain shoots down my arm too. There's days where I just want to gnaw my shoulder off.

Physical therapy seemed to help a little bit. Shoulder adjustments from Chiro usually seem to help temporarily. Violet ray treatments help. I had x-rays in the beginning but am going to see if I can get an MRI to make sure there's no tears.

Hmmmm thanks so much for sharing all of your experiences! My neck and jaw are crunchy and weird too so that is what makes me think it is general overall inflammation from herxing/lyme/coinfections.

The pain maybe is where there are colonies of buggers and when hit with antibiotics they give off toxins and inflammation results? I have an infrared heating pad that seemed to help my sacroliliac/hip so I just started trying it on my shoulder. The sharp pain even makes one feel weaker or sickish for a few moments

Maybe acupuncture might help?

Acupuncture is a thought. Today my shoulder really started to have sharp pain at one point. I remembered a technique to sort of ratchet your shoulder back for good posture. First you move your shoulder forward, then straight up and then roll your shoulder back.

It hurt but it seemed to put my shoulder back in place and now it doesn't hurt as much. Still have to be careful tho. I am wondering if some of us get loose ligaments or instability in the shoulder when we have more inflammation from herxing or whatever. Here is a link that says you can get an unstable shoulder from certain connective muscular disorders....and lyme would fit the bill. https://www.verywell.com/shoulder-instability-2549804

I've had it too, get it intermittently, it hurts like a bugger. Nothing that i do seems to influence it permanently one way or the other. NSAIDs and Icing make it feel better in them meantime.
