For me, it caused yuuuuge herxes which left me with severe neuropathy in left hand which has not resolved 4 mos. later. I stopped and went to other drugs.

I'm not sure what to make of this drug. It is obviously killing bugs, but the die-off is damaging nerve tissue.

Sick since at least age 6, now 67. Decades of misdiagnosis. Numerous arthritic, neuro, psych, vision, cardiac symptoms. Been treating for 7 years, incl 8 mos on IV. Bart was missed so now treating that.

Paulieinct,
How much Alinia did you take? what dosage and how long before it gave you the huge herx?
I had a terrible reaction (herx?) with flubendazole which is supposed to be quite safe and not even meant to be systemic, it is used for deworming kids, sold over the counter. Thanks

I took Alinia 500 mg twice a day. I pulsed 4 days on and 3 days off. The huge herx started in week 2 I think. I was taking it with Ceftin I think, also pulsed.

Possible that we both experienced die-off of parasites, possibly the microfilarial worms that Willy Burgdorfer found in ticks and that Alan MacDonald has found in tissues.

I believe it does. Every time my LLMD added in Alinia to my regimen I always felt better. Now granted that is purely anecdotal. And also realize I was also on a whole bunch of other antibiotics too.

I took it straight for eight months, along with many other antimicrobials.

Huge neuro "herxes." But no progress.

The first week it helped my gut. Then the gut flora populations seemed to shift and everything went bad again. Doc insisted I was still herxing.

Overall, no improvement. Lots of functional loss.

But there were many meds in the mix, so the functional loss can't be pinned on Alinia.
