Thought I might try Alka-seltzer gold for detox, but the drug interaction checker says it has a "major" interaction with Bactrim. Bactrim causes your body to retain potassium, and taking Alka-seltzer gold with it can supposedly make your potassium levels go dangerously high.

How common is this in the real world? Have any of you used Alka-seltzer gold with bactrim?

I've never tried it with Bactrim on board. But if it were me -- since I now know this reading this post -- I wouldn't. It would probably be okay; and probably reserved for people who are also taking an ACE inhibitor or who have kidney problems, but it's hard enough trying to figure out what's what.

You're probably right. ): I should probably find something else. This detoxing is hard work.

Have you tried Pekana detox drops? They're money but they're an easy one too.

Haven't heard of those. Do they work? I'll sure google them in a minute.

Hmmmm... I took it with Bactrim. My Dr recommended it.

At least I think it is Bactrim. Mine says Sulfamethox/Trime

Yep that's Bactrim. My potassium tends to be a little low anyway. Maybe it would be ok for me too.
