My son's DNA Connexions test just came back showing only Ehrlichia Chaffeensis. I am assuming that he has had this for years. So what does this mean if he has this infection and it hasn't been treated? What is the best treatment for this? If it hadn't been discovered what could have been the long term effects? I would love to learn everything about this co-infection.

It means that the current medical system failed him. Primary care docs don't know to test for this, but lyme docs do. He is lucky he is young and has been able to keep fighting it. I had it for a while too.

He needs abx (recovery is quick). I was given doxy and rifampin and felt amazingly better in 3 days. He needs a good lyme doc. You can post for one in "Seeking a Doctor."

It infects the wbc and causes the wasting syndrome in dogs ...i second what catgirl advises ...on the bottom of the dna connexions test is says a negative result foes not mean you dont have it just that their test didnt pick it up ...
