I took my wife and kids to Labcorp today and they refused to draw blood for our Igenix kit to send off. We walked over to Quest and they said they didn't have a code for it. Is anyone else having this problem? Any idea where we could go? Posts: 15 | From Houston, Texas | Registered: Dec 2016

This is just one of the problems you will encounter if you try to get Igenex testing on your own. If your primary care doc will not do the blood draw for you, you have to find someone who will and you have to be sure the blood is shipped to Igenex properly.
For the Igenex draw, there is a lab called "Any Lab Test Now" that will draw the blood for you and send it to Igenex. Some locations have a doctor on-site that will sign your order for you, and others don't. You'd have to call nearby locations and see.
So, if they don't have a doc to sign your Igenex order, then you have to find another doc to sign it.
If your blood is not shipped correctly, the results will be negative even if you have lyme.
For this and many other reasons, I always suggest getting a lyme specialist (or someone who frequently sends blood to Igenex) to do the draw and shipping for you.
The results will go to the doc who signed the order. (May be different with Any Lab Test Now.

If you have a doctor's order and they tell you they won't do what it says, look them right in the eye and calmly say...
"Then you can call my doctor right now and tell him/her you aren't going to do it."
We've had to do that for years to get a test run. For some reason many of the lab techs think of themselves as "Gods" and feel they have the right to push you around.
At that time it is no good to argue with them. But...
Telling them they must call a doctor and tell them they won't do it puts some fear in their little butts and they will come around. It took me a long time to learn that trick, but once I did it worked every time.
They will bully you or try to mislead you, but they don't want to go up against a doctor.

You need a doctor to sign the form. The Labcorp I go to in N. Houston will draw the blood and send off. Supposedly they all do as a courtesy - especially if you are having other blood drawn there to be tested by them. If AnyLabNow doesn't work out - there is a doctor in Houston who usually has the Igenex kits and will sign the orders. PM me if you want more info.

As Susank is saying, a doctor needs to sign off on the test form. Do you have one doing that? Results come back to the doctor signing off, so make sure you get a copy, then you can discuss your results with us if you wish.
The doctor does not need to be knowledgeable about Lyme, just sign off on the tests wanted.

Thanks! THe Dr in *** had signed off and even issued another order for a draw at LabCorp. We went to Anylabnow and it went really well, even on my 2yr old son (though he didn't think so). Thanks for the strategic advice all :-)
