Does anyone have any links or websites about eye disorders connected to Lyme or Bart ?
One of my first symptoms 4 years ago was a sand or gritty feeling in my eyes.
Then the corner of my eyes were red like I had scratched them.
Now I have blurry eyes, distorted peripheral view around outer eyeball, and a clear, round disk in field of vision in my right eye.
If I try to look out of the corner of my eyes, I get extremely dizzy .
It's uncomfortable to read anymore.
Can't research on my own. . . just point me in the right direction.
I remember reading about the doctor who caught Ebola in Sierra Leone. He was flown back to the states, where he was in a coma for over a month with multiple organ failure.
He survived and was told he was "cured" only to relive the horror again. They had found Ebola hiding in his eyes.
He was treated with steroid and antibiotic eye drops, at very large dosages.
Does anyone know of any tests that are sero-positive proof of borrelia or Bart in the eyeballs ?
I document every encounter with all doctors. I learned the hard way.
Thanks, much appreciated.

Hey pumpkin,
I've got over 170 eye related references on the Maryland Lyme website. Dry eyes, which it sounds a lot like at least to start with, may be a place to start.
Since there are so many eye related symptoms and diseases related to tick borne diseases, and so few who actually know about them in the real world...
May I suggest going to the appointment and letting them figure out what the problems are (in their words), then go home and look them up to see if they are related to Lyme, Bart, or whatever?
You'd have to do that anyhow to get relief, even if they call it something else or don't associate it with Lyme, etc.
Dry eyes- be careful with RX stuff as some have oils and preservatives in them. Plus, their chemicals do go throughout the body- with one study saying they found the eye drops in a mothers breast milk.
There is an eye drop called Refresh Plus that has no preservatives and has been recommended by eye docs in the past.
If you want to email me your address I can send you some coupons for it that come in the boxes.

As for testing your eyeballs for Lyme, etc. I wouldn't.
They would need to take out some fluid- not a good idea- or take some tissue for testing. Then the tests they would use are garbage and have a good chance of being negative anyhow, so I personally wouldn't risk it.

People with Lyme have Dry Eye which can be severe, causing ice-pick pain in the eyes and redness too. Restasis is the prescription that doctors give for Dry Eye. As I've treated Lyme and Co,
my dry eyes have become less severe, I use Restasis less often. I used to use Restasis every night and morning and then use Similasin Dry Eye during the day as needed but Similasin contains some
preservatives in it. Now I use the prescription stuff less often.

Just got home from eye doctor.
What a waste of time. You were right Tincup.
Hopingandpraying-thanks for the links. IMO, I have quite a few of the disorders listed.
But apparently the doctor couldn't find anything wrong except for presbyopia. Fancy medical word for aging eyes after you hit 40.
Science knows diabetes, syphillis, neurodegrenerate diseases all cause blindness but not Lyme ? Um, par for the coarse.
Can't say it was a total waste of time because I feel productive when I m able to fight the good fight.
Time for bed. Tomorrow 's another day.

Well I hope you kicked that doctor in the knee cap for wasting your time!
Not only do you go and only when in dire need, and expect to get help, and PAY them to help you, they kick you out after telling you that you are just "old".
Grrrrrrrrrr!
So sorry that happened. That sucks!
You said... "Hey Tincup, Just wondering where you go for advice ? Xanadu ?"
Funny girl you are! Actually, the folks here help me a lot and I learn from them each day. (Except for the dumb ones and I won't mention any names- they know who they are.)
Actually, I also have a secret pal I visit when in need. He is the best for giving advise, but he can be tough on me. Makes me keep going till I learn and can feel the answers within. Even when I am at my lowest, he helps.

Don't know whether this could help you - it helps me - drinking mangosteen juice removes my Lyme eye symptoms, which were floaters, light sensitivity, eye muscle pain and beginning blurred vision.
A neuro-opthalmologist tested my eyes and found nothing wrong, even though he had to anesthetize my eyes for me to be able to look at light.
Then my chiropractor suggested I try drinking mangosteen juice, and it worked - the above symptoms were gone in 24 hours!
I still drink the juice - I like the Mango-Xan version as it's the most tart. I drink about an ounce a day.
It's an anti-inflammatory juice that scarfs up free radicals created by inflammation.
