my nose whistles almost constantly now and it hurts.

I went to dr and he said he "thought" I had a septal perforation. that's a hole in my nose basically.

remember I did a faceplant during that fall in january.

and he asked me if I was a drug user. dear lord...I said who puts drugs up their nose?? he said well I guess you aren't. what a stupid question. a fat old lady and you ask me that. I almost laughed
myself off the table.

he has referredme to a, hmm, ontological guy. guess thats a nose specialist.

I asked if this was rare and he said no, it was fairly common.

but I've never heard of this. is this another lyme thing or what????

Yes,sit is fairly common.

I would not be put off by the history question of possible inhaled drug use. My sinuses likely looks like that, too, from years-long infections. While such a question is foreign to you and I . . . yet, there is no segment of the population that can be excluded.

My guess is that were many of us to have never found out what really is going on with lyme, we might have reached for methods to just muddle through. Knowing why, for me, made all the different in direction.

For all kinds of reasons, people are looking for ways to just make it through their days and can get addicted easily.

The stigma should not be attached to a doctor doing their job of eliminating possible causes. I just hope that any doctor who asks will also have the compassion to look at whatever variable might be at the root of it, it's a medical matter.

But, were a doctor to ask me even about alcohol or even fast food use, I'd probably also recoil about as it's all so far from my life.

Other questions to consider include frequent sinus infections. And xposures to molds, chemicals or even high cooking heat for those who cook often. BBQ grill use / smoke exposure also on the list.

Even where you live in relation to the freeways and pollution patterns in the wind currents can affect nasal issues.

For those who have worked in mills of any kind, nasal & lung issues can plague them for life (as can mining, of course). But even some hobbies that may have involved harsh chemicals or lots of particulate matter floating about.

Nasal sprays

Have you ueld antihistamine &/or steroid nasal sprays in the past? Some of those will compromielsnose tissue with long term use.

Still, with an injury such as a "face plant" that can also create weakness in the overall structure. I've had more "face plants" and wall hits (seeming wall could jump from out of the blue, with my issues of balance and spacial defects) than I can count.

Yet, as forsif a "lyme thing" it also could be as lyme is attracted to / can destroy soft tissue in the body / connective tissues, cartilage. And Bb can also destroy / weaken bone tissue.

Past steroid use can also cause such tissue to just crumble.

And those with celiac can also have weakness of such tissue structures.

And, with advancing age, such issues also can become "fairly common".

Good to see the xpert for a proper and specific assessment, yetsyou might also seek out a seasoned ND for what actionssyou might take to help REPAIR that tissue, tosnourieh and allow for healing to happen, sif possible.

There are also some "simple" not too invasive surgical repairs. One of my friends did very well with such.

All this is just off the top of my head from my own study on my tender, dear little nose interior. Likely, there are some good medical sites that are more specific.

The specialist's look with their magnified specs and specific scans will offer you the best advice for moving ahead.

Chlorella . . . look into the properties that CGF imparts regarding support for tissue healing. that is Chlorella Growth Factor.

I know absolutely nothing about putting drugs up your nose. I took it as funny.

I occasionally use a saline spray cause my nose gets so dang dry. but I've had tons of sinus infections and bronchitis.

I have used an antihistamine spray once in a while but not more than 2-3 times. and no steroids.

my mom's nose collapsed when she was dying from so many tubes and something called a cannula. Is that right? anyway she looked awful.

another drs appt.

The specialist was probably an otolaryngologist...Ear-Nose-Throat specialist.

If it's any consolation, randi, every time I end up in the hospital they ALWAYS ask about drug use. Always....doesn't matter why I'm there...they are evidently supposed to cover all bases.

I hope your visit with the ENT goes well. Not sure what they can do about it except repair it. Oh joy.

well the dr said small ones can repair themslves but he'd leave it up to the specialist to determine what
size it was.

I want to report that after several days of no HBOT my PVCs (and PACs it turns out) stopped, which exception to the rare mild flutter.

I hesitantly attribute it to a hormonal issue (entering menopause) or the two short rounds of Alinia I took for h.pylori (mistake!). Or it was just my crazy body!

I am now back to 1 hour per day and feel great. Dive 253 today. Is that fast? I don't tolerate antibiotics or herbals so HBOT has been a Godsend.

I still have a day or so per month where I crash unexpectedly, but that's major improvement. I haven't had a cold since I began HBOT, and really my only complaints are my gut and (lessened) chemical sensitivity. I am looking into the mast-cell/histamine thing for my gut. What I would give for 20 lbs!

I am currently bombarded with many stressful life circumstances, and so far am holding up unbelievably well. I am much more calm and centered, and I'm certain its thanks to HBOT.

Incidentally, my cardiologist is a moron. I just had to say it! Sorry so mean!! I won't go into it other than to say I like my doctors to be smarter than me (and in this case smarter than my dog).

Kristine,

Great to hear of such improvement from HBOT.

randibear,

HBOT can heal tissue, remarkably in some cases. That might be something to seriously consider for many reasons.

Unfortunately, if you have any sinus, nasal, ear, or upper respiratory symptoms they recommend that you hold off on your HBOT treatments until your symptoms/ infection are treated and gone. They say that you can have terrible pain and problems if you try to deep dive with these symptoms.
