Those of you who have methylation issues and don't detox well - do you notice your blood pressure goes up when you're toxic?

What do you do to help detox?

My husband is in this category and he's feeling really yucky today again.

He did a foot detox this morning and will do a sauna tonight to help get rid of toxins.

He takes burbur, charcoal & pysillium husks, chlorella, and just recently started using the Detoxifiber from Garden of Life.

The only new things we added to his daily supplements is the Remag magnesium and trace mineral drops from Alpha.

Would adding either of those cause his body to try pushing more toxins out which would cause his bp to go up?

Oh the challenges this gives us! So frustrating sometimes!

I have blood pressure on the lower end, so no, for me, as a difficult detoxer.

However, addressing the detox issue, has your husband done any testing like the 23andme metehylation test so see which SNPs he has? Single nucleotide polymorphisms = defects in genes that code for enzymes that we need for the methylation cycles.

Getting that info and getting it translated can show us where we're blocked and what needs boosting.

Also, I detoxed successfully doing FIR sweating. I have to go now for the day - be back later to discuss that.

yes, he had the 23andme test done.

We had the test sent to his healthcare provider who has been working with us on the supplements needed.

So, if he can handle heat, I successfully sweated out weekly in a FIR session and at the end of 6 months, was suddenly not sensitive to smells like smoking, bleach, perfume, rubber - my doctor said I had dropped enough of the toxic load to be able to handle it again!

Not that I'm recommending being around such chemicals as these, but I felt much freer in the world again!

How long did you stay in the sauna each time?

We have a FIR sauna. He uses it alternating with the water bath foot detox. He tries to do the one, skip a day, do the other, skip a day, etc.

But sometimes he starts feeling too toxic, and so he has to do them without skipping a day.

Yesterday he did 2 foot detoxes and he is doing another one today. He was feeling really bad today. Hasn't felt this bad in a long time.

Did you need to take extra minerals to compensate for the ones you lost in the sauna?

I initially sweated out on a borrowed FIR mat while wrapped up in a sleeping bag - took 1 hour to sweat, I listened to a CD for an hour! That's what I did weekly for 6 months.

Now I use a stand-up/fold-up tent sauna - takes around a half hour to break a sweat.

My Lyme doc told me to shower off warm and cool a couple times afterwards and to take Takesumi activated charcoal to help with continued inner flushing of toxins.

No, I don't take anything extra. I drink some water throughout.

Just as an aside, whenever I drink a small amount of liquid minerals daily, the kind that come from the Utah seabeds that you can get at the healthfood store, my nails always go from soft to hard, so I think that's a good sign!

Like Robin- I've had real trouble with chemicals and the like.

FIR sauna for me once a week and coffee enemas have been my saving grace. In my opinion, you have to really manage this piece with Lyme and cos as I feel the body can only deal with so much at one time and I want my body free to fight. Diet too has been helpful to me and healing my gut with GAPS. Godspeed!

GAPS diet- and Paleo Autoimmune has helped with inflammation - greatly. I can't help with the blood pressure I'm afraid.

You have to begin VERY slowly with the ReMag .. I began with 7 drops a day and worked my way up very slowly.

It pushes toxins out and rearranges things, so to speak!

He had been taking other magnesium before he started remag. So he started with 1/2 teaspoon in a pint of water.

It took about a day and a half to get it all down. That went well with no problems, so he had just increased it to 1 teaspoon in the same amount of water/time.

Hmm, so that could be part of the bp issue...... okay, we'll have him reduce the remag again and see what happens.

Today his bp was still high but MUCH better than yesterday! He worried me yesterday, but I tried really hard to play it cool in front of him.

When his bp is up, it scares him and then it goes even higher. So if he thinks it might be high, he doesn't look at the reading.
