If you had bart, what medication combination do you think took care of it for you?
I currently have sore feet, headache behind my eyes, fatigue, anxiety (huge) shooting pains etc
I was fine for 3 years and just relapsed with all this crap.

I was cured with 30 days of Levaquin followed by about 6 months of Bactrim DS.
The Bactrim was for babesiosis also.
This was 12 years ago now.
Besides these meds, I did the Burrascano exercise program which is one continuous hour of weightlifting every other day--a full body workout each time.
I credit the weightlifting as much as the meds for my recovery and never having a relapse. The weightlifting restores the immune system to normal functioning which is essential if these diseases are ever to be cured.
The meds can't kill every germ. You need a functioning immune system for when you stop treatment. So, that is what the weightlifting gives you.

Sorry to hear it is back Jackie. Unfortunately, even the best LLMD's don't have a protocol that works for everyone.
And often there are relapses.
Most docs use multiple antibiotics and cater the meds and the protocols to the individual patients.
Sorry to say it is kind of a "pot luck" deal.
If you look up "Bartonella and treatment" in the scientific literature, you'll come up with over 900 studies.
Researchers have discovered over 30 different species of Bartonella which can help us understand the BLO designation often given to Bartonella.
Bartonella is also (some strains) more like Tularemia, according to a LLMD, than the typical "cat-scratch fever".
Here are the guidelines that may help with some ideas.

If I tested positive for Bartonella henslae would it be more like cat scratch which IS bartonella Henslae and not like a BLO?

I 2nd the exercise. I turned a bit of a corner when I started doing light weights. It was REALLY hard ( and still is sometimes) to convince my self to do it, but it seems to help.
Not over night, but with consistency. I'm still a long way from well, though.

Hi Jackie So sorry to hear you have relapsed.
I treated bart 3 years ago with 5 months of rifampin/zyth. Then switched to Byron White A-bart. i relapsed this fall after 3 years of being well-Jumped right back on the A-bart and doing much better.
I agree with the exercise too-I feel like exercise, along with the drops, has taken me to a new level

I m a neebie jackie81 and can't believe you have to deal with this a second time. Horrible.
I am in month #4 of Lyme treatment. Last month Rifamin was added to address bad Bart.
Symptoms are weirdly exploding. Burning feet and tongue. Assorted rashes. Pain behind eyes. Herx all month ? Who the hell knows, agh.
Anyways, I too had cat-scratch fever 5 years ago. Ended up in E.R. because I didn't take it seriously until a red line ran up arm. They gave me I.V.antibiotics and sent me on my way. I believe this was not adequate treatment to completely kill it.
Strangely, when I got blood work through my LLMD, I tested negative for bartonella.
I have CVID so maybe my body didn't produce antibodies.
Anyways, my E.N.T doc put me on Bactrim last year for chronic sinus infection, and I felt horrible while taking it. I almost stopped taking it but plowed through.
After 2 weeks, I felt so much better. It treated my sinus and I believe, my unresolved Cat-scratch Bart and undiagnosed Bart from tick bite. Or are they one and the same? Who knows? At any rate, the Bactrim was not prescribed long enough for cure. But I wish I could get more of it !
Another question for Tincup:
Under any circumstances, would Bart react to any bands on a western blot blood tests ?

I have gotten rid of Bart and Brucellosis and Babs with Colloidal Silver. I started with Nature's Sunshine about 6-10 oz. per day then started making my own. I take about 4 to 8 oz. daily now. Still fighting Lyme but much, much better!

I had burning soles of the feet a few times--a classic bart symptom.
Notice that Bonnie had burning feet and tongue.
Twitching can be from low magnesium. I hope you are taking a good mag supplement. It is a necessity with these diseases. See Burrascano for the best one.
