Dr gave me rifamprin for bart but no combo drug? am allergic to tetrocycline base drugs. Ideas?

You need a combo and you could kill lyme at the same time. My favorite and most effective for Bart is 500 mg Bactrim DS BID, 500 mg Azithromycin QD or 500 mg Clarithromycin BID. You can combine Amoxicillin for a full lyme + bart regimen. I also have done Rifampin for a while but never by itself. Wasnt too fond of that. I would say the macrolides are the most important of the Bartonella drugs. Azith or Clarith.

I've always heard if you take rifampin alone that Bart builds resistance to it really fast. Bactrim and macrolides are definitely good options if you can't use tetracyclines.
Of course, quinolones are great at killing Bart, but are also great at hurting people too. I refused quinolones until I had no other options.
