Anybody try this? My new integrative practitioner suggested it but I am unsure what type of glutathione really works. I've heard in tablet form it's not effective so I'm skeptical. Thanks. Any other ideas for herxing? I've heard epsom salt bath, clay bath, etc.

Alka Seltzer Gold and glutathione are recommended by lyme doctors in the know to help people detoxify. Glut "opens the detox pathways" according to Dr. H.

Here is a thread where I recommend both AK Gold and various forms of glut for the patient:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=135866;p=0#000013

As you see, Dr. H. is telling his patients to take oral glut. and AK Gold. Suppositories are stronger than oral glut. IV glut is the strongest.

There are lots of detox threads on LymeNet for you to peruse. Besides Epsom salts bath, there are coffee enemas, dry skin brushing, taking binders, etc.

Lots to learn.

Liposomal glutathione is the best way to get it if you can't get IVs.

Thanks! Just read Dr. H's book section on herxing and I wanted to be ready for it. I've ordered some barber but it hasn't arrived. May order the glut too. Didn't see AK Gold at the store. maybe i'll get the suppositories. Been hearing about the benefits of enemas too.

Anyway I have not had flu like symptoms yet but lots of headaches. At first i thought that was in reaction to ABX but could it be herx?

Tonight, after a pretty intense headache followed my doxy by about an hour I drank lemon water and it started to get better soon after. I then took B vita complex, 2500 mg Omega 3s and the headache moved to my gut and then disappeared. I also ate a little food but wonder if this could have been a herx reaction. Any thoughts? I know they're different for everyone but headache is listed as one of the signs. Thanks.

Alka Seltzer Gold can usually be found at CVS. You will have to call around to the various drug stores to see who has it.

The Alka Seltzer Gold is really a must to have on hand. So, I strongly suggest you look for it some more.

To help you figure out if this is a herx, you have to tell us when you started treating lyme and what your meds are and then when the symptoms started.

If they started 2-3 days after you started the meds, then the symptoms are most likely a herx.

If you started the meds 4 weeks before the symptoms started, it is most likely a herx.

Is the only symptom intense headache? If so, you want to check the side effects of all of the meds you recently started to be sure this is not a common side effect of any of them.

Yes, I'm a patient of Dr. H. and this combo is one of his primary recommendations for calming a herx.
