I seem to get them fairly often and I'm tired of the discomfort and loss of days.

Are there supplements that any of you have to found to prevents flus from happening or stopping them if they start?

I am one of those Lymies for which we don't ever get colds and flus for years since we got Lyme. Actually has become a fairly good indicator in me of my Lyme.

Having said that, when you are dealing with any viruses, you need to reduce arginine in your diet to basically zero, and increase lysine. That means no beans, no nuts, no seeds, no breads, etc.

Eat all the dairy foods you want. Milk, cheese, yogurt, vanilla ice cream, etc. Dairy products have a huge surplus of Lysine to Arginine. I would say under such a diet, the virus would be killed much quicker.

(breaking up the paragraph for easier reading for many here)

Hi Robin,

You may want to check out Joette Calabrese's site.

I heard her talk on the Chronic Lyme Disease Summit 2.

You can search her blogs for any subject, such as "flu", "pain", etc to learn about her recommendations for homeopathic medicines.

Olive Leaf Extract. I don't take it to prevent from getting sick, but anytime I feel the slightest symptom, I take it and it knocks it right out very quickly. I use the Food Science Of Vermont brand.

Oscillococcinum (a well-known homeopathic product) shortened the duration of the flu when I had it to about two days (if memory serves me correctly), but it needs to be taken at the onset of the illness. It is not only available in health food stores, but also in groceries and other places now.

A poster here (don't recall who) said he/she would take one vial of Oscillo pellets every week during the flu season as a preventative measure.

I would also say OLE (Olive Leaf Extract) is also very good. The Seagate brand has the highest concentration of oleuropein (active ingredient) in it. I would order it online from the company or Amazon, because it wasn't readily available locally.

for us, the best is simply supplementing Vit D3, daily.

At onset of flu, homeopathics, like hopingandpraying said... I love Sanum, two products usually test good: Notakehl and Quentakehl (2 types of Penicillium)

Now we're only on Vital Force Products: one is Malavit, a very wide anti microbial, the other Acute Immune (a combination of many herbs).

Thanks, everyone, for responses. I just got some lysine today to start with.

Up for any more comments about preventing/stopping flus...
