Can you have Lyme with no symptoms ? I found a tick in my bed. Not sure if it was a deer tick or not. It did look swollen. So might have bitten me or daughter.
its been 6 weeks and none of us have had any symptoms. No rash or fever or muscle joint pain. Should I and my daughter still get tested?
Suppose the test is positive do you treat it if no symptoms ? Pcp totally dismissed Lyme. But it has been at the back of my mind.

No I don't have any pets. That is why I was worried either me or one of my daughters might have brought it in. There were 3 of us in bed when I found the tick.
What really worries me is when I read that people don't have symptoms for years and suddenly develop symptoms after years. And what I have read says late stage Lyme is more difficult to treat and may not fully recover. When at this point the treatment might be a simple course of antibiotics.
Then again do doctors treat if there are no symptoms ?

I have late stage Lyme disease now Which means I have had the bacteria in my body for well over 4-8 years now
And all those years I never had any symptoms at all I was perfectly healthy Doing workouts etc I didn't even know I was bite or had any rashes Or fever or anything
. . I never ever would've checked for Lyme , or thought it last year (2016) out of blue , started to get horrible pains in my feet Out of the blue And for a year I have been misdiagnosed with everything As I got worse and worse and many doctors had no clue what was going on I have to learn how to walk again Really
I would never thought I had Lyme ever I didn't remember any tick on me or any bullseye rash or any rash
So don't take a chance Lyme is no joke Don't be fooled . .

Google one in your town They are the only ones to treat Lyme
If you go to a regular doctor and say you think you have Lyme but you don't remember a rash or don't remember having any fever They will think you're a joke And wasting their time
Trust me , been there done that And I wasted valuable time Only to get worse and worse I seen well over 60doctors "Regular doctors" and None had no answers and knew what to do, none would say I had a infection at all
. .well now I have to relearn how to walk again And I'm in horrible pain Trapped at home I have no life I lost all life ..in pain 24hrs a day
Look up EM erythromelalgia "EM burning feet" Google it That's what I have as a result of this Lyme Lyme is not something regular doctors can treat at all The EM burning pain feels like your foot and legs are going to explode . No exaggeration If someone is cooking in the house, I will go into huge pains Any slight temperature changes causes pain , I can't leave the house because it's a different temperature outside It's crazy
. .haha if I can get back to health I will nevvvver go back near any bushes or forest ever!!!!!! .not even worth it . .

I don't think so.
A tick will stay attached to you for a few days, generally. So, if that tick had bitten you or your daughter, I suspect you would have eventually seen or felt it.
I don't think a lyme specialist will treat you just because you found a tick in your bed. He might test you if you wanted testing.
I know that pediatric lyme docs will NOT treat a child if the child has no symptoms. Even if the child tests positive for lyme, if the child has no symptoms they will NOT treat. They say to leave well enough alone.
They say that the child's immune system must be handling the infection. So, for these reasons they will not give the child treatment.
I know you are uneasy, and I would be too. But, I don't think I would go to any doctor based on just seeing a tick in my bed. My guess is that it didn't get onto either one of you, but I didn't see it.
I would have captured it in a pill container and examined it to see what type of tick it was and if it truly was swollen at all.
Still, I don't think I would go to a doctor just for that.
My husband gets 3-4 ticks on him each year. They are attached when he finds them. I would be taking him to the doc all the time if I treated a tick bite that way. In the beginning (like first 2 years after I got rid of lyme), I called his primary and got 2 weeks of doxy for him and once when a red rash as big as a nickle developed, I took him to a dermatologist, but she said it was just normal reaction to an insect bite. Now I no longer contact a doctor.
We have gone 10 years handling his tick bites this way. But, I continually watch him for symptoms. I mark the date of the bite on the calendar and I keep the tick in a pill container with a moist cotton ball so it doesn't dry out.
This way, if I want to send it away for testing, I can. But, since nothing has come of any of his bites, I have never gone any further than this.
There is a place out west that is currently testing ticks for free. So, if you find another one in your house, you may want to send it away for testing. The testing is not 100% accurate, but it would be interesting to see the result.
Look at pictures of swollen ticks on the Internet and see if that is what your tick looked like.
Just type into Google "tick after blood meal picture" and many will come up. The tick no longer looks like a tick. It looks like a blown up balloon. A big difference.
It would not stop feeding until it was blown up like a balloon. So, if it wasn't blown up like these pics, that means that it did not feed on anyone.

If you're having no symptoms and didn't find the tick attached, then I doubt a doctor would treat. Lyme doctors treat until you're symptom-free, so there would be no point in treating.
My understanding of diagnosis is that testing shows exposure. In the presence of symptoms, proving exposure, shows that the symptoms come from Lyme.

I find ticks in my house a few times a year. They drop here and there.
I think when they come for a ride on clothes, and not always attach. I'm sure they dislike my husband, so I guess, they drop from his clothes and fall in the couch, or in the bathroom.
My cat brings attached and unattached ticks home too. I find engorged ticks (fully engorged AFTER bite), or 'thinner' versions (did not bite recently yet).
Once they bite, they usually do not drop on their own until they are full.
If you are worried you can test, though.
But if you got positive, and still no symptoms, it may mean simply your body is working fine and fighting the infection.
Mosquitoes are also said to be infected with lyme. It makes no sense to do tests at every mosquito bite, if you see what I mean... Unless you have symptoms.
Or you can take lyme herbs! They are not drugs, and have less side effects.
