I'm suspected to have babesia. Prescribed a 3 day course of atovaquone 4x a day. I don't think this is enough, also I read there are some nasty side effects. I also have as Azithromycin.

Has anyone has success beating this ? What were your symptoms ? What medication did you take ?

Three days? It took me more like three years to get rid of babesia.

Do you have an LLMD? If you want to get better you need a specialist whether it's an MD or naturopath, you need someone who specializes in the disease.

3 days and a half was my first treatment with Riamet.

It did knock all symptoms down, only to have them back 2, 3 weeks later.

Do a search here, loads of suggestions for treating babesiosis. And definitively, buy Buhner's book on coinfection treatments.

Yes but I'm waiting on this igenx which takes a ridiculously long time. Time that I am spending getting sicker and sicker waiting for [Mad]

Try Arginine in high doses... like up to ten grams daily. I buy jarrow 1,000 mg.

Also Three or more grams of turmeric... Artimesinin and Cryptolepis are helpful.

Sorry... I have it too and am having a tough time with it. The above (and much meds)has helped though.

I beat it with Bactrim DS and artimesinin taken 3 days in a row every week. I took the art on the days the babs would flare.

Flares started as soon as I started the Bactrim. Art brought the flares down to nearly nothing.

I could not take the standard mepron/zith, so I had to use Bactrim. My doc said it will take twice as long on Bactrim than mepron/zith.

I became symptom free (no more flares) in 6 months of this treatment but stayed on it 5 more months since my doc won't let patients stop treatment if winter is approaching. I had to treat until spring, even though I was symptom free.

He said winter is a stress on the body and so can cause a relapse.

I really had no symptoms of babs until I started treating it. I was positive for babs through Igenex, so that is how we know I had it. The FISH test found it.

I completed my treatment over 12 years ago.

Did you check the Burrascano Guidelines to see what meds treat it and what the symptoms are?
