Will Rifampin and Tinidazole eradicate Bartonella? I am on 150mg of Rifampin and 250mg of Tinidazole, both 2x a day for a very old Bartonella infection. I used to be on Tinidazole only and did great but then added Zithromax and got worse, then swtiched the zithro to Rifampin 2 weeks ago and feel a lot worse. I have a lot of nerve pain, mood swings, random tirednees, twitching, chills, etc.
This is all after being about 7-8 months on Rifampin and zithromax.
Please I'm at the end of my rope. I need to know if this current protocol is good.

Why not take a look at what 2 lyme doctors say to do to treat bartonella. Look at the Burrascano Guildelines, found here:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

The bartonella discussion starts on page 24.

And, here is a link to a page of another lyme doctor's book:

http://www.lymebook.com/antibiotic-treatment-for-babesia-bartonella-ehrlichia-co-infections

So, this will give you some idea of what 2 other lyme specialists say to use.

My lyme doc told me that Bactrim DS will also hit bartonella and babesiosis both.

Hope this helps! Welcome to LymeNet!
