We initially saw LLMD for Borrelia plasmid PCR positive (IgeneX); co-infections negative;

treated with Bactrim & Rifampin, added on Doxycycline.

Initially noted some improvement in fatigue,

but then a plateau, no further improvement in fatigue.

Seeing another LLMD. Started on Tetracycline & Diflucan; after 3 months and no discernible improvement,

recently switched to Mepron and Zithromax.

Has anyone else tried Mepron and Zithromax for Lyme?

How long before we see some improvement?

Starting to wonder if this is CFS and not Lyme.

Most LLMD's use mepron and zithromax to treat babesia. Have you been diagnosed or are you symptomatic for babesia?

Mepron is strictly for babesiosis and no other disease.

Zith is used to treat lyme disease. It treats other diseases also.

If you have had lyme for at least one year, then it is 100% certain that you also have coinfections. This is according to Dr. Burrascano.

So, when lyme treatment no longer gives you improvements, it is time to add in some coinfection treatment. That is what I would say your doctor is doing.

The coinfection tests are not very accurate at all, so a negative on babesiosis cannot be trusted. Trial of babs meds will tell the tale.

Just to let you know, Mepron can cause depression in some people. They can get to the point of planning how to kill themselves. So, if you happen to notice such a side effect, know that it is time to stop the Mepron.

If the depression is milder, it is called "the Mepron blues."
