I'm fighting my insurance about Ambien .. which I have taken for more than 15 years with no issues.

So .. we are trying Rozerem and if I fail that one, they may "let" me have Ambien again.

This is so ridiculous.

So .. I picked up my script for Rozerem today. What a crock!!! It cost me $45. She said my insurance paid $650 for this $#%#!!

I'm afraid to even take it!!

It's so nuts that my insurance doesn't want me to take Zolpidem, which I've taken for 16+ years .. (It's dangerous...hahaha)

Zolpidem cost them probably $10 and cost me about $5 a month.

The pharmacy tech said the prescription service/insurance company probably has a contract with the manufacturer of Rozerem.

So if I die from taking this, you can sue them for me.

This is the third drug on their qualifications list. If I fail all 3 drugs, then they will pay for the Zolpidem.

How screwed up is this!!!???

I am so sick of the "Pharmacy Benefit Managers!" Read, deny at all costs. They are practicing medicine without a license, which is illegal!

I've been fighting a denial of a generic nasal antihistamine spray for my husband for months!! It's mind-numbing. I, his doctor's office, and several pharmacists have spent endless hours each. 44 pages of records sent---still no dice.

In the meantime, it went to his lungs without it, he had to go to his GP, take abx and an inhaler, which he still needs. I finally made him use my bottle of it. But now I need it, too, and can't go the doctor. Grrrrr!!

Unreal.

I'm off to take my pill .. wish me luck and if anyone is still up .. say a prayer!

Rumi .. keep pushing them! GRRRR!!! [rant]

Lymetoo, it looks like it would be cheaper to just use a GoodRX coupon and pay cash for the zolpidem? Looks like it would cost you around $10-15. Might be something to consider.

I wish I had done that! I was thinking the same thing as I lay there wide awake tonight.

This is so stupid.

5 a.m. and I've been awake all night. I have a busy day ahead.

My side effects from Rozerem:

chest pain/pressure
stomach pain
tinnitus
dry mouth
headache
INSOMNIA

Oh no! Sorry Lymetoo, hate to hear that. Once I find a med that works, I hate changing. It's so hard to find things that agree with our bodies!

Still totally exhausted .. but I have good news.

I called the pharmacy to see what it would cost to pay for Ambien out of pocket. Just for grins he ran it through insurance again and it went through.

$15 for 90 day supply. I asked how it went through and he said probably because I had already filled the stupid Rozerem.

So happy for you.

Hubby has taken ambien for years and needs a very small amount to sleep every night.

I told him what insurance was doing to you! Wow!

Hello Tutu! Just checking in with Lymenet. Glad you got your Ambien. I am sure that one day, there will be a study that says-- yes Ambien is dangerous for everyone by Kudzu and Tutu and all those with xyz insert medical jargon here... I was forced to see a sleep doctor to get mine... it's a pain in the butt... but it's the only thing that works for me without any side effects.
