My LLMD prescribed Bactrim along with Doxy and Mepron last year. I took Doxy and Mepron for few months and stopped because of different stomach related issues.
Doc prescribed to take Bactrim 1 tab until one week and increase 2 per day afterwards. If I need to try Bactrim with Artemesinin How many days or how many weeks I need to take Artemisinin.
What is the latest guidelines on this combination?
If any one tried recently could you please provide your inputs on this.
Thanks and Regards,

To get rid of babesiosis, I was given Bactrim plus Artemisinin.
I started the Art one month after starting the Bactrim. I took Art from AllergyResearchGroup, 100 mg. This is the brand my doc recommended. You can buy it at the Vitamin Shoppe.
I was instructed by my lyme doctor to take it twice per day on an empty stomach. I took either one capsule each time or two each time. I don't know which.
BUT, I only took the Art for 3 days in a row every week. You should not take Art every day. If you do that, in about 5 days to 2 weeks, your intestines will make an enzyme that will prevent the Art from doing you any good.
There is research evidence to prove this, so be sure you follow this advice. (See link below)
So, I took the Art on the days that my babs always flared. The flare would start on Friday evening and end on Sunday evening.
My doc said to "encompass the flare with the Art." So, I started Art on Friday morning and took the last Art on Sunday evening.
The Art made a MAJOR difference the first time I took it. It cut my symptoms down to nearly nothing!! It was like a miracle.
Others have said that Art makes their symptoms worse. So, perhaps this is an individual thing.
Burrascano says that you must add Art to babesiosis treatment in every case. See page 24.
I took the Art as long as I was on the Bactrim. That is what you must do to get rid of babs.
My experience is NOT recent. Rather it is from approximately 12 years ago.
Within a few months of this treatment, my babs was totally gone. It is still gone to this day. Praise God!
Here is an old thread about Art that will give you more info:
Rather than Art, Dr. H is having his patients take coartem, which has Art in it. See this old post of mine in which he gives the dosage of coartem and tells why he doesn't give Art that much anymore.

Thank you so much TF for the detailed info.
Did you remember how many Bactrim plus tabs you were taking daily to treat barbs and how long you took before babs completely gone.
During energy testing both Bactrim and Art shows working for me. Planning to start once I get art.
Do you see any side effects of Bactrim, like gastrisis, loose stools etc. I had stomach pain and loose stools when I am on doxy.
Thanks and Regards,

I took Bactrim DS (meaning double strength) one pill twice a day.
I took this for 6-7 months and became symptom free. But, since winter was approaching, my doctor would not let me stop the medicine.
He said winter is a stress on the body and could cause a relapse, so I had to continue on the Bactrim and Art until spring. So, I took it 4 more months even though I had no symptoms.
I did not have any side effects with Bactrim.

Would a liposomal formulation of artimisinin avoid the deactivation after five days? My doc says the liposomal formlation improves delivery.
