I am 10 years in with Chronic Lyme. I have done a variety of protocols and although I will never be cured I am so much better than I was 10 years ago, when I was bedridden.

I exercise, try to watch what I eat, try to get enough rest. I am on an herbal protocol which seems to be keeping Lyme at bay for the most part. I do have symptoms come and go, which I am willing to live with.

My question is for people who have been in Lyme treatment a long time, including abx. I did many years of abx combinations. Since being off of abx for over a year now, and on the herbs, I find I am getting the typical viruses more than I did before. I believe my immune system is really suppressed because of Lyme and also because of the gut damage from all those years of abx.

What probiotics is everyone taking once they are off of abx? I have to be careful not to over do it, because I have have a history of SIBO. But I think I really need to boost things up so I don't get every virus walking down the street.

I take supplements every day.....VIt C, Vit D, Mag, Garlic, Zinc, Multi Vit, B Complex, an anti histamine. I take Body Biotics about once a week because of the SIBO fear, but I think I need another strategy.

Thanks!

The strategy that Burrascano recommends is weightlifting, one continuous hour, every OTHER day.

Lift light weights and do many repetitions. This is how I got my immune system back to normal twice.

The first time was when treating lyme. Then again years later when I was catching everything that came down the pike thanks to using Flonase every day per my PCP's instruction. I did not realize it was a steroid.

So, I have proven twice to myself how well this works.

You must do a full body workout each time, meaning do arms, legs, chest, abs, back, and butt.

You can read in Burrascano the science behind this. Do NOT do aerobic exercise. That suppresses the immune system for too long a time.

But weightlifting suppresses it for just a short time. The day of rest in between makes the immune system bounce back stronger than it was.

It should take you just a couple of months or less to see the difference. AND, it helps kill lyme and coinfections also. And, it prevents a relapse.

Your herbs and vitamins will penetrate deeper into the muscles as you weightlift. That is how it makes them more effective.

And, this way, you don't have to worry about jacking up your SIBO. I've had that, and I don't want it again!

Either rig up weights at home or go to a gym or Senior Center and use their weightlifting equipment. Just a few different machines will give you all that you need.

Thanks TF. I do use free weights are part of my exercise routine. 10 reps, 3x each exercise, arms legs, butt, chest, back. It's not like the weights in a gym, but I was told that free weights were just as good, if not better for someone my age.

I also walk alot. I love to walk, the endorphins etc, and it clears my head. I really don't want to give that up. I know it's aerobic, but I feel that it's essential for me. Do you think that's a problem?

I also do a mat pilates workout on the off days. I find that helps with some sciatica that I have.

The main thing is one continuous hour of weightlifting. Are you doing one continuous hour?

No not an entire hour. I usually walk for 30 minutes and do 30 minutes with weights.
