I post this NOT for those on lymenet who wish to donate.
We should never donate, ever !

I post this for those of us who recieve blood or blood products from donors.

I see many areas listed that have room for improvement.
And Tick Borne Infections aren't even listed !

Come on Red Cross. . . Step it up !

Just pray you'll never need a blood infusion.

That's the only reasonable conclusion.

I saw a full documentary about the blood donations in the US and here in Europe.

I did not know that they PAY people to get blood donations in the US.

Out of the blood donation centers, you may find drug dealers.

Yep, drug addicts donate blood in exchange of money to buy more drugs.

Imagine the scene: injecting drugs with same syringes?

Exchanging not only AIDS viruses, but Bb, bart, babesia, god knows what else that will never be screened?

They get PAID for donating blood!!!

In the US, some poor people (not drug addicts) even live off donating blood, and their health largely degrades because they do not have enough time to produce new red blood cells.

In Europe, no one gets money by donating blood as far as I know.

At least, the risks drop a little bit as you won't probably get blood from drug addicts (who have little concern about donating blood to save other lives, as their own lives are at stake first...).

If we were living in a perfect place, where tests were reliable, and labs believed in chronic infections, multiple infections, lyme etc, yes... you're right.

But that just happens in an imaginary world, like Disney World.

Knowing what we in the lyme community know, how hard it is to screen KNOWN pathogens (Borrelia burgdorferi is just one hard pathogen to be found)...

... just picture the not-so known pathogens that are around.

No chance they will be screened.
Not in this world.

Mega viruses, for example, that were JUST recently discovered, that existed at least since pre-history, of which we, humans, knew NOTHING about just a couple of years from now...

Parasites that infect us and use blood as part of their reproductive system.

Most doctors don't even believe in parasites infecting great part of the population in developed countries.

That's why all these threads of people swearing they see parasites coming out, despite negative parasite tests.

Morgellons, that is not even RECOGNIZED as a disease by the medical community.

I have nothing against drug addicts, but the fact that many exchange syringes and in doing so, exchange known and unknown pathogens does not look safe.

If the blood is not coming from drug addicts, the chances of infection are not small due to bad screening.

If it comes from drug addicts that use common syringes, chances get higher.

I just stayed at the house of a family member for Xmas.

The lady is almost 80 years old and has been donating blood her whole life, because she's O positive.

She was raised in Africa in her youth, came back to Belgium and lived a reasonably good healthy life, except for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Her whole adult life, she had RA, in the last 2, 3 decades it turned into osteoarthritis, her joints are eaten up literally, doctors tell her it's autoimmune.

Blood centers call her regularly for donation, and she goes, every year twice, no money involved.

She has had many tick bites in her life.
No EM rash that she remembers.

Now, at the end of her life, she's covered with inflammation. Skin, tendons, joints, nerves are not working (numbness is permanent), she complains of GI problems.

RA can be caused by infections. She lost a knee for it, now the second knee is also in big trouble.

she's got inflammation in joints since her 40s or even before. She's almost 80, so it's been 40 years of inflammation.

Small neuro problems now became permanent (she drops glasses because she lost feeling on some fingers).

When I put my lyme nosodes on her for energetic tests, of course, Borrelia comes positive.

Of course, she does not believe in lyme disease.

She donates blood regularly, for decades. For free.

She continues to be bitten by mosquitoes and ticks, continues to suffer from arthritis and constant inflammation.

And continues to give blood because they do not stop calling her.

Another thing to know: most of us, with active or inactive lyme disease can give blood, right?

We do not have lyme for THEM, anyway.

I would feel like a criminal if I donate my blood.

Fortunately, I'm so thin that I fall off their screening!

If lyme is so widespread, it's there in the drug addict communities too.

I would also take drug addict blood if it was screened for the known and unknown pathogens!! [Smile]

Isn't it ridiculous they don't screen for those infections?

Well I guess step 1 to that is to get them (CDC/IDSA) to acknowledge the disease even exists.

Why is that so hard for them?

I wonder what they would say if their children or friends or themselves picked up one of these infections they don't believe in (Lyme, Bart, STARI, Morgellons).

Haha, what am I saying? How could people that behave like this toward other human beings have any friends?
