Hello,
Has anyone infused the Apotex corporation ceftriaxone (manufactured in China by Qilu Pharmaceutical Co or Apotex Corp. Weston, FL)? I'm an RN and got online and ready about some fatal reactions with rocephin in China, siting allergy but also possible poor quality product. Then I read some testing in 2012 revealed contamination of some ceftriaxone manufactured in China (it did not list specific pharm companies).

Obviously I don't want to put something in my body that might harm or kill me, and it is making me a bit nervous as this is the one I picked up yesterday. I called Infuserve to ask what company they get their rocephin IV from and was told various companies depending on who they get it at the time (she mentioned several, including Hospira, Lockhart and Weston).

Has anyone successfully used the Apotex version from China?

Thanks!

Wow, that is scary! I have long worried about all of our meds coming from India and China and Turkey, etc., where they is next to no oversight. It's scary enough with oral meds, but much scarier with IV.

Please let us know anything more you find out. I may go back on rocephin soon.

It's horrible the degree to which profit reigns above people.

Maybe you can do some sleuthing about what company it was that had problems. Although, you likely have already tried.

Hi Rumigirl! I spoke with one of my friends who is a pharmacist and she said that most drugs come from overseas and said that the generics are subjected to the same rigorous testing. I have another friend who is a mixing tech (mixes IV drugs in a clinic) and she said that the last rocephin she mixed was the Apotex brand. So last night I decided to give it a go with the rocephin and I'm still here!

I hope you don't have to go back on rocephin but if you do, I hope it proves to be a game changer for you [Smile]
