Reading very different dosing regimens for artemisinin for Babesia.
We have the Liposomal Artemisinin. Dr. H's. book states 1 cap (100 mg) twice a day.
Buhner's Lyme Coinfections book recommends 100-200 mg three times a day for 30-60 days.
Others recommend pulsing Artemisinin--3 days on, several days off.
I have also seen a recommendation for 3 weeks on, one week off.
I am so confused as to which would be the best option.
If you have used Liposomal Artemisinin, which regimen did you follow?

- Usually. the pulsing comes later in the game. At least with lyme, it comes near the end of treatment. Not sure with babesia but that's just a thought.
Both Dr. H and Buhner are excellent sources as may some of the others be whom you don't mention. Take in all you can from each of their books / writings / lectures at YouTube, etc.
As you compare their works, each might offer explanation for why they suggest their statements.
Unless you have an LLMD to guide you on how they think best to proceed, you just have to see how it works for you starting out slowly, always. Slow and low.
Then, if you feel able, you might try to shift gear one direction or another. Know your boundaries.
Each person has a different total load, will have varying responses and may require a different method.
I hope those who've done the pulsing with this will weigh in so you have some kind of survey of sorts.
I've not done liposmal artemisinin but did well with Zhang's protocol and the Hepapro artemisinin as part of the plan with other herbs.
If any form of artemisinin is pulsed - my question is if there are other anti-babesia agents to be used during the time off?
Still, whatever form of artemisinin you take, you MUST also take other specific anti-babesia (anti-malarial) agents along with it. And the combinations may change along the way.
No one anti-babesia (nor anti-malarial) drug should be taken alone as resistence can develop.
Medicine is just as much an art as a science. And it has to be individualized to a large degree regarding tick borne diseases that are each such a puzzle even alone, much less combined.
But I can sure see how it would be nice to have one solid correct answer that will work for everyone always.
Good luck surveying the situation and finding your way. -

- Not about babesia, per se, yet something here might click regarding the way pulsing works regarding lyme:
See all THREE posts here by Pamela Weintraub (who is a LL journalist who recovered from lyme - and write about her entire family dealing with it in "Cure Unknown" book )

- When comparing guidance from various sources, be sure to check the date . . . and see if there is more up to date detail by the doctor / author / writer . . .
also maybe check out the latest lectures with ILADS presentations. -

Liposomal ARtemisinin will be MUCH more potent than artemisinin capsules.
I had trouble with the capsules, normal capsules, they are pretty potent already (non liposomal).
I used a very strong protocol, for short time (3 days, I think) following the old suggestions of dr K, in the past. Then lowered the dose and added other things. It did not work.
I don't think artemisinin alone gets rid of babesia, it's just another help. I think babesia gets easily used to it, but that is just my experience.
I don't know what to suggest, as I preferred Artemisia annua, long term, much more efficient long term in my feeling... But not a solo herb either. Nothing is solo with babesia....
Just beware that Lipo artemisinin may have a much STRONGER effect than non lipo art. Read what dr K recommends, that is where I would start!
Good luck!
