Hi jcarlnew:

IgeneX does tick testing but time is of the essence.

I live in CT and our State Lab will test fully engorged ticks (part of the controversy where only engorged ticks pose a risk - note this is a false assumption on their part).

Remember if your MD only gives you one dose of Doxy he is following the flawed IDSA standard where they are using Wormser's "trial" where they treated patients bitten by a tick and the control was if a rash developed.

Considering rashes only appear 50% of the time (this from the CDC as LLMD's clinical presentations indicate its more towards 80%) and only 30 to 40% of the ticks carry the borrelia (I'm going by CT yearly testing %'s.) you can see the odds are terrible under the Wormser trial (plus there was no follow up after 6 weeks).

I'm just venting but hopefully you have a 3 weeks supply of Doxy.

Free tick testing in Michigan;

https://www.michigan.gov/documents/emergingdiseases/Tick_testing_flow_chart_227376_7.pdf

More ways to test but not free;

https://lymediseaseassociation.org/resources/resources-for-patients/tick-testing/

There used to be a lab in Arizona, that partnered with Bay Area Lyme, for free tick testing but due to overwhelming entries, they are no longer accepting ticks until further notice.
