My cousin was just bit by a tick, she has all the classic symptoms and the rash. It was attached for 3 days as well. She just delivered a brand new baby a week ago, I believe the tick was attached after the delivery.
She is breast-feeding and is currently on antibiotics but there was three days of breast-feeding and no antibiotics. At what point does the lyme get into the milk? Can it pass to the infant that quickly?
She lives in Sonoma California. She is currently looking for a Lyme literate doctor in her area and is scared to death of passing it on to her baby. She reached out to me because I have lyme but I’m in Utah and she can’t get to my doctor.
Any info on doctors in Sonoma and especially the breastfeeding question would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Pregnant women taking antibiotics seem to have healthy babies, right?
It's just a guess... And I wonder if spirochetes coming through food would not be MUCH less infectious.
now that I read Bonnie's link, I remember dr K saying that cow milk is contaminated. That pasteurization does not eliminate spirochettes from cow milk.
Which is to say, that the whole population of the planet (who ever drank cow milk in their lifetime) are at risk!!
No, I would not be too scared in her place.
That's probably me, knowing that we all drank contaminated dairy here and then and that only a fraction of the population fall ill with lyme (not 100%, as it should be as most of us had some dairy in our lifetime).
Are doctors then recommending stopping all milk?
If pasteurization does not kill spirochetes, what alternative would the baby have? Contaminated cow milk?
Just my thoughts....
