What are your favorite remedies for carsickness, other than Dramamine?

Oh, so sorry to hear you have this. I hope this helps.

A hard fought lesson: do not eat fast food from a greasy fry pit before getting into a closed vehicle.

Dramamine made me feel so much worse, and turned my legs to jello. Also really affected my balance in a really bad way. That's dangerous if you are traveling to have unsteady balance.

I was so happy to find that ginger capsules worked far better, no side effects.

I will say, though, that the scopolamine patch I once used was the worst - I was walking to the walls at the airport -- and I slept for 24 hours after I arrived. The scopolamine patch took a long time to wear off. I felt so drugged.

GINGER turned that all around.

TAKE GINGER WITH FOOD

Try to take with food, though, so it's easy on the stomach. A little food and warm water. If you have to take on an empty stomach, at least be sure to drink a good amount of water so it won't be too warm your stomach.

And be sure you get a very good brand. I know that Oregon's Wild Harvest Organic Ginger capsules are good quality.

GINGER CAPSULES can help relieve nausea and dizziness. But it needs to be kept up at a therapeutic dose that only the capsules seem to provide. Although the tea can help a bit.

Take it BEFORE your planned day outing. See how it works for you, in general. Again, best with a meal.

Take ginger capsules a couple hours before you think you will need it, say before getting onto a plane or into a car for a journey on winding roads.

Plane: try to sit in an aisle seat directly over the wings.

Bus or metro trains: FACE FORWARD.

Car: Best to ride in the front passenger seat and look directly ahead, limiting turning your head. If you see a stretch of road ahead where the sun is shining through trees, close your eyes before getting there.

If you can't sit in the front passenger seat, the next best one is the back side, behind the front passenger seat. The worst car seat is one that sits backward, or right behind the driver because you have too much traffic zooming past your face from the other direction, often.

Oh, you likely know this but don't even try to read anything in a car.

Same with a moving train.

Take Ginger Capsules a couple hours away from Rx. It has some antioxidant properties and it may speed Rx through too fast if taken at the same time.

GINGER

There are some homeopathic sublingual pellets, too, that can ease discomfort instantly (great for flying and can have immediate effect).

A cold compress to the back of my neck would also help prevent barfing during airplane turbulence..

Try to stay cool. Getting too warm can cause trouble.

I just took a Ginger capsule about an hour ago and found my stomach was burning a bit. Oops, I forgot about how important it is to take with food.

A little baking soda in water calmed the discomfort within about 15 minutes. Whew!

I used a homeopathic pellet that worked.
