I have been treated for Lyme since June 2002. I had some difficulty with meds and liver enzymes but recently that has been resolved. Currently, my LLMD has me on amoxicllin, probenicid, teasel root (10 drops under the tongue twice a day) and artemesia (500mg 3x per day). I have searched past posts for info on artemesia and teasel root.
I believe I am on the teasel to help with that elecric shock feeling that occurs randomly. I have found that Teasel has been used for lyme but I don't know what dosage and if/when people herx with it.
I have also found artemesia prescibed for a co-infection. I am under the impression that it is also sometimes used for the cyst form of Lyme when a patient's liver cannot tolerate Flagyl.
I would appreciate any info you may have regarding these two. Thanks!!!!!

Tunes, I just tried to run a search for Spironil or SpiroNil (a liquid extract form of Teasel Root) and got very few hits. There have been numerous discussions about this in the past but they aren't popping up when I do a search.
I've used SpiroNil off and on during the last year or so -- it seems beneficial and I occasionally have herx reactions to it.
An herbalist named Matthew Wood started using teasel root to treat Lyme Disease -- he has written a book which I have but the name of it escapes me at the moment. Something like the Book of Herbal Wisdom. You can probably find it at Amazon, I think that's where I got my copy.
I get my Teasel Root from Phytotherapy Research Labs in Tennessee. The recommended dosage is on the bottle.

At a recent 3-day Lyme Symposium with my doctor it was discussed that the Artemesia put out by Allergy Research brings better results.
Take care.

no, no sources for that. I was the one wondering if it might because it kills protazoa. No proof or even discussion of that anywhere, whatsoever.
But I do wonder if it might...

Mike27, that's the time when you have to resort to colonics, coffee enemas, Beta sistosterone (like cholestyramine, but less expensive and easy to take), and lymph drainages. You cannot expect to feel super when on any anti-meds and you should do these elimination therapies right alongside. If you do that, you don't have to stop the medicine, maybe cut back a bit, but you can continue with them. Dead bacteria and parasites swimming around in your body just don't make for comfort. So you have to help them find the door out.
Tomorrow, I will post a Liver Flush that works wonders. It was given to me by a good friend. Everybody using it has great results.
So look for it. It's simple and costs a few pennies.
Right now, I am going to watch a funny movie and enjoy my husband's company.
Take care.

I am bringing this to the top because of the mention of Teasel root for the electric shock feeling that is mentioned.
I have this and it is very painful and causes a great deal of depression.
Does anyone out there know about teasel root? I haven't heard talk of it lately?
I am on so many abx and supplements right now that I don't think I can add another thing uless it can help with these shocks.
My liver #'s are going up and bilirubin is above normal......so I would add this only if anyone has had success with it in regards to the horrible electric buzzing.
I often actually shock whenever I touch the car or anything metal. This happens many times a day not just once in a while. Like I said painful and depressing........
Anyay....I'm just complaining now so I will stop......we're all in the same boat...I know.......

I believe the name of Matthew Wood's book is "The Book of Herbal Wisdom". I read about a woman who had cured herself of LD after seven bouts of it after taking doxy & grapefruitseed extract. She had contacted the author herself to discuss treatment. She purchased the teasel root tincture from a company in NY.

We used Spironil (Teasel) quite a bit along with many other different remedies over time - it seems like a lifetime ago. I used to order it from 800-274-3727. Phytotherapy Research.
We are both well now.

Hi Robi, I'm thinking about trying teasel. Here is a link with info: Matt's dosages are often far tinier than other herbalists might recommend, and for this he was suggesting only 1-3 DROPS 1-3x a day. http://www.suite101.com/print_article.cfm/631/75684
