Did the doctor give you a hard time because of your age and being child-less? I've heard in some states you have to have a psych evaluation and meet certain criteria before getting it done and some doctors may refuse to even do it.

My mother's neighbor had that done and then gave birth to Baby Monique. Because of Baby Monique, I had my fallopian tubes cut out at the age of 35. The doctor gave me no problems about doing it but that was in the 1980s. IF one doctor gives you a problem, go to a different doctor until you find the right one. Maybe a phone call, alone, would give you the information you need. Doctors, today, may be less likely to give you a problem over this. There seems to be a depopulation trend in medicine.

I am past child bearing age, but I wouldn't want an elective surgery like that.
Plenty of ways to prevent pregnancy. Why cut the body and undergo surgical risk? (and yes, it can be done laparoscopically, but still chance of infection or dangers of anesthesia.
Just my humble opinion.
