Hi All,

New to this! Recently came to a point where my fatigue and OCD symptoms have become too much, got really into neurofeedback but found that my brain couid have a nice temporary response but wouldn't stick. Then got turned on to metabolic and potentially biotoxin influences.

I am having trouble trying to understand the situation with LabCorp and others - Quest, Natl Jewish - methods. LabCorp uses Futhan, which sounds like it produces a more accurate representation of what was happening in the body, but Shoemaker and other's ranges have been developed without the preservative.

My labs seem to have enough to diagnose CIRS, but some things are borderline:

* ! Susceptible HLA
* ! MSH 34 borderline - just under 35 low end
* ! MMP-9 629 High, range 85-332
* ! TGF-b1 8,400 High, range greater than 2,380
* ADH 4.1 Normal
* Osmality 298 just within normal, range 280-300
* VEGF 96 Slightly high, range 31-86
* C4a with Futhan 282.3 range 0-650
* ! C3a with Futhan 210.7 High, range 54-202

Other labs have indicated very low vitamin D which seems possibly a marker for Lyme.

I think that's all we did so far. So by the numbers the MSH is borderline, MMP9 and TGFb1 which seem like serious markers are high.

I'm trying to understand if the C4a/C3a numbers are even useful here. It's interesting that even with the futhan, C3a is a bit high.

Reading some messages on this forum it sounds like the C3a/C4a values are maybe falling out of favor? Should I have them re-done by Quest to see, or is there probably enough here to go on?

Interestingly I have a history of Autoimmune markers as well - ANA, Anti-dsDNA, sometimes my regular C3 has tested low - Doctor initially thought Lupus, but I don't have the more characteristic symptoms like the butterfly rash. Also, it's pretty uncommon in men.

I've been working with a great Dr. on this but this is a highly complex topic and find these forums very helpful. Thanks!

I don’t know the difference between the labs but CIRS could be a response to any number of things including mycotoxins, or bacterial toxins (such as from Lyme) etc.

Have you had mold exposure?

Guess I should also ask if you have tested positive for Lyme or other tick borne infections using a lab called Igenex?

https://igenex.com/

Best wishes and I hope someone else comes along who can help you more.

Welcome to LymeNet dca703

I found a few links for you from one of the top LLMD’s ( Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) although she’s retired and the top Mold expert. It explains some of your tests significance in Lyme Disease.

https://www.publichealthalert.org/role-of-c3a-and-c4a-complement-proteins-in-chronic-lyme-disease.html

Do you have a LLMD?
It sounds like you have a Functional, Environmental or Integrated Specialist due to the tests ordered in totality.

A positive HLA gene means you are susceptible to Mold Illness.
You definitely have this.

C3a and C4a show inflammation and cytokines activity.

Here’s more from the Surviving Mold website;
https://www.survivingmold.com/resources-for-patients/diagnosis/lab-tests

There is also lots of info on LymeNet’s search function on mold.
