Since my tick bite (2006), I’ve had my first ever uti and frequent UTI’s with workups that reported a few casts but a ‘sterile’ infection. I’m 63 years old now, and am having problems getting the treatment I need. Just recently had 2 weeks worth of macrobid which didn't touch the infection, a culture, and 5 days of Cipro. What I need is twice a day for a week to ten days, but you know doctors, they think my tendons may get destroyed with Ciproflaxin. My uti signs are being ignored and I’m being under treated. I won’t take Keflex-severe diarrhea no matter what probiotic I take. This is an e. Coli infection. Anyone have help with a bidet toilet seat, or am I doomed?

My solution for the past 15 years has been daily or twice daily capsules of D-Mannose. You can take them every two hours during an infection.

I'm not quite understanding the "sterile" infection part. Please enlighten me.

Taking Cipro and those drugs in its family is very dangerous. At least it was for me. I will NEVER take them again. That is why I take D-Mannose 'religiously.'

Cipro can do far more damage than just to tendons. Many patients on the mast cell sites (MCAS) say that their horror story began with Cipro or Levaquin, et al.

Are you having a lot of pain??

Few suggestions

With other treatments available, seriously think about taking Cipro.
It is a dangerous drug.

In office testing misses a lot. Cultures are better especially if retrieved directly from INSIDE the bladder. This is done prior to urethra installations.

I have had success with catheter installation, done in office, once a week for a month, then once every 2 weeks for a month, then monthly as needed. It was a combination of gentamicin, heparin and lidocaine.

My LLMD said DMSO installations work the best but I had a hard time finding a practitioner who used this.

Lyme biofilms LOVE the bladder. But each layer of biofilm contain different organisms. Each one must be addressed.

Here is a link from a retired LLMD urologist known for her breakout treatments for UTI’s and IC Bladder, Dr Ruth Kriz.

Here info on installations for UTI’s.
https://www.ichelp.org/understanding-ic/medical-treatments/bladder-instillations/

My experience is with oral antibiotics, my UTI’s and IC Bladder flair shortly afterwards. With installations, I can go a lot longer symptom- free.

Hope this helps.

Have you looked into oxalates? While I haven't had UTI issues a lot of people with oxalates have UTI symptoms without culturing positive for a bacteria. Rather oxalates are their issues. (there are also people with UTI's)

If you are on FB there is a Trying Low Oxalate group, Also they are now on youtube - Wizards of Ox. They have a ton of stuff on there. I saw a video entitled "Questions from the (TLO) Queue on UTIs and ferritin"
