I went through my own lyme hell 20 years ago. Now my friend in Wisconsin is having issues and needs to get tested for lyme and co-infections. Is IGeneX still the best place to get tested? For Wisconsin, what co-infections are most prevalent that she should get tested for? Still Bartonella, Babesia? Ehrlichia? Anaplasmosis? I hadn't heard of that last one before, but I have been out of the loop for a while. Thanks!

As for testing, many are leaning towards the IGeneX ImmunoBlot for Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia.
The reason being is they test for more stains of each infection, 8 strains of Lyme, 4 strains of Bartonella and 3 strains of Babesia. They also eliminate false positive antibodies.

My LLMD is also starting to use DNAConnexions, a lab in Colorado that tests for the DNA of 11 different tick-borne strains in urine (using PCR), with both very high specificity and sensitivity.
Somewhat expensive, but quite helpful, especially if one's body is not producing antibody response (as this detects the presence of the Lyme and co-infection microbes, not the immune response to it). It caught Babesia for me after 12 years of testing negative on antibody tests.
Hope your friend feels better soon!
