I have dealt with long term Lyme about 25 yrs. As used to the flare ups of jabbing pains and neuropathy as you can be. I retired and have started going to water aerobics but not sure I can continue. I'm having terrible reaction. Stabbing pains, neuropathy and leg numbness are terrible for the next several days after. Tonight I took pain pill, inflammatory pills, CBD which didn't touch it. Finally took thc and got a couple hours sleep but now at 3:30 pain woke me up again. I'm thinking In the long run maybe this is good if I can just hang on? Anybody else run into this with water aerobics?
It's not overly strenuous so I didn't expect it

I am so sorry this is happening! I have had Lyme most of my life. I too am retired.

I have post exertional malaise if I do aerobic exercise on land. I can't move for 2-3 days. But in the pool!! I can work out hard and not pay for it.

If this was me, I would not give up on it quite yet. Water workouts are sooo good for us! Especially as we get older.

I would literally try to do the bare minimal. And see if you still have the reaction. They say that even though we don't feel it, working out in the water is a quite a workout. Explain it to your instructor so they understand why you are not going to keep up with the class. But literally do hardly anything and see how you react. If you don't have a reaction, then slowly work up to the level of workout that caused your neuropathy to flare. Slow and steady wins the race. ;-)

I ended up having a skin reaction to all of the chemicals they were using in the YMCA pool. We took a break from the pool, which I really miss. When I go back I am going to be lathered in lotion to minimize my exposure.

Hope you can find a way to continue to get in the pool!
