As you probably know Lyme testing is woefully inadequate. A good Lyme doc will consider it but not rely solely on it.
Band 31 is specific for Borrelia, OSP A (Outer Surface Protein A). The "IND" indeterminate on these tests drives me crazy. It is like saying a little bit pregnant. It is either there or not. But because it is light in color they call it "IND".
It was for CDC surveillance that they determined you needed 5 positive bands to be considered positive. Since Lyme suppresses the immune system and the testing is looking for an immune response it is not necessarily unusual for there not be a full immune response, therefore lacking 5 bands positive.
I was reading one comment that stated if you are Band 31 positive it indicates that you have had Lyme for a while. "Band 31 is also special because it is not seen until at least months after initial infection. Its presence could potentially serve as an indication of an ongoing infection (chronic rather than acute infection at time of testing.)" https://www.lymedisease.org/greenberg-lyme-testing-problems/
So a good Lyme doc will take this testing, a clinical exam and a good history to determine if you have Lyme. Since you were tested I am assuming you have Lyme symptoms and do not feel well. I hope this doc will treat you accordingly. I hope you feel better soon.

My LLMD will treat band 23 only, band 31 only and band 39 only, if you have a high positive MSIDS number. All these bands are highly specific for Lyme Disease.
