Dr. P. says that Bicillin is a drug that stays below the radar when it attacks the skeets. So they don't change into cysts or spheroplasts. NICE.
I am taking 2.4 mln units once a week and normally herx 24 hours later. I also take Biaxin and Plaquenil. I started 2 months ago, have seen improvement - especially between the herxes. I still have 4 weeks to go and then we will reconsider what to do.
My ass only starts to hurt badly when the herx starts, a few days later it's ok. But I have limited muscle mass left there.

Tim, a number of years ago between exacerbations fo what I now know was Lyme, I got into doing sqats at the gym. The happy result is that I developed a fair amount of glute muscle, despite being a fairly compact guy. Little did I know I was preparing for the future! If you and Dr. P. Decide to continue with Bicillin, a lot of people report that they hurt less over time. That has definitely been my experience. My doc has me taking 1.2 MU three times a week. One suggestion, are you splitting the dose between cheeks. 2.4 is a lot of volume for one injection. Good luck with it. David

The hubby and I are now in our 8th month of bicillin, 2.4 IU a week. I just finished 6 months mepron/zith; he's still on mepron/zith, and just finished 2 months levaquin for bartonella.
Shot discomfort is minimal. We icepack the area before, get the bicillin to body temp before we inject, inject slow, and walk around afterwards.
Lumps last 3-7 days.
Huge improvement from all the treatments. Really like the bicillin -- no stomach upset, no weird taste in my mouth, no diarrhea.
Herxes were very noticeable for the first 4 months, starting about 12 hours after a single shot.
Now, even though we do double shots 1ce a week, all I notice the next day is a little extra fatigue. All sx are improved, but I know that the babs/bart tx also had a lot to do with that.
Bicillin really helped me. I had a nurse friend stop by the house to give it to me three times a week for 2 months. I took weekends off. I think it would have been better to do every other day but It helped any way. I herxed like cazy-I got the shot in the muscle and we did it in the evenings. I went straight to bed I was so tired. I was also on Zithromax & mepron.

I will have my 17th set of injections tomorrow - so 4+ months. I have seen steady progress. I still herx about 28 hours after the injections. That lasts for 3 days. I am mostly tired and achy during that time. But, I am pretty funtional on Bicillin. Oh, I get two 1.2 unit injections each week - one in each cheek.
It doesn't really hurt (except when one nurse hit a nerve - ouch!!!!). The only thing I have noticed lately is some muscle weakness that seems to be from the injections. It feels like I have some tissue fatigue or damage, even though we always rotate the site.
I love not taking orals! They wrecked my gut. Bicillin is convenient and easy on the tummy.
I think the plan is 8-12 months. Will know in a couple of weeks.

Regarding Bicillin in Europe.
I contacted Swiss phamarcy and they told me that Extencillin, which is apparently the name, is not long-acting. This is why I didn't buy it there even though the price is 10 times less.
Have also found out the reason it is not available in the UK, is because it's banned.
