This is so scary. Tonight, I noticed on each thumb base, palm side, a bony bump elevated...it actually sticks out, which is hard as a rock and fixed at the base of both thumbs.

Please...anyone...what is this? It's making me nervous and I constantly am feeling them, and I'm freaking out!

Never noticed it yesterday or any other time. They're not painful, so do I just leave them alone and hope for the best?

Does my abx protocol have anything to do with it - flagyl 250 mg, three times daily and Bactrim 2 every AM and 2 every PM.

I've never had anything like this before, and, in fact, didn't take any abx today due to a bad day yesterday with my first fleeting eye flashes in one eye, which is gone today, plus just feeling rotten. So I took an abx break.

But, these scary bumps, size of thumbtacks panic me and they feel weird.

I don't know how to fix this.

Need help...thanks.

Well howdy do buck-a-roo!

You are my first post after nearly 2-3 months being gone. I missed you!

About your new found bumps....

Not to worry one bit.

I can't say what they are.. but I get them now and again... and no house has fallen on my head because of them.

If they turn red... warm.. inflamed... check with the doc next trip. O tay?

Mine go away on their own... and sometimes it takes a long time.

Have you been checked for Bartonella?

Good to see you!

Wow... the computer seems to be working... yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

You may try a warm GENTLE massage in the area of the bumps if you feel the eed to do something.... and then leave them alone. Massage above and below the sites.

If you are still concerned after a week or so... contact the doc. But till then... not to worry your pretty little head...

I, totally, agree with Tincup...I used to get them all the time.

But, now that I have done 20 months of abx, I haven't noticed them in awhile.

Rosemary

IMO, it's just another one of those strange Lyme things.

TC, you sweet, sweet angel, 'bout time we heard from you!!! Do you know how much you've been missed?!?! I, for one, have missed you sooooooo much and treasure your friendship and help.

I feel a whole lot better after reading that these bumps could go away on their own.

I haven't been tested for Bartenolla, although, I was taking Rifampin only for two months...maybe, not long enough. Will have to check on that.

That could be it from what I've read on your posting on co-infections, which, by the way, is excellent info.

Rosemary, you get them too?! I thought I was the only one.

Thanks for helping me through this.

It's so strange, though, I never noticed them the day before, and I type a lot and have to use cream on my hands constantly due to dryness, and never felt these big knots before.

How can they just occur overnight like this and is that even possible? I know Lyme is strange, but this is too weird!

Well, anyway, I hope they go away like yours and TC's.

Thanks to both of you...I'll try not to freak over this.

TC, glad you're back!

Hi Lifeline,

Here is another recent thread about the same problem that you are experiencing:
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/020777.html

These are quite common.
Wish I could remember the name right now!

I'll try to go and find it and post later.

Melanie

If these are the bumps I think you are talking about then this info from a pathologist may help.

You can tell if someone has arthritis or Lyme disease by tiny bumps on their bones. These diseases do not just destroy the joints, but they also infect the surface of the bones. The bumps are most common on the shins and lower ribs.

I asked if he could diagnose me based on that, and he said I would have to wait untill he can see me in his office.....

WOW, bd! That's awesome! I never ever heard of that! I think I have those on my shins! I have one large one below my left knee....and my shins feel really bumpy. Are some people's shins SMOOTH????

Where on the ribs???

Tincup.....Do you know how much I've missed hearing you say "O tay?" sure I could have used it in your absence, but it wouldn't quite be the same!

This is what will happen to you if you ever leave again!!!

Good one, Lymetoo!!! That's right, TC, PacMan will get ya if you leave again!

Melanie, Thanks for plugging in sites...I read them all and am convinced it's all part of this weird disease.

bd, I've never heard about these bumps before I got them, but do they really destroy the joints and bones? I'm really in trouble then, because I already have osteoporosis dx'ed before Lyme.

Is there ever an end to this endless disease!? Wish I knew the answer, and I do wish there was a cure, not just a remission/recovery until stress brings it all back.

What an enemy stress has become...and wondering what new symptoms greet us each day doesn't help,...but, I know we can't afford the luxury of a negative thought. I think that's a book...can't remember. Sigh.

I wish I could just get looped and this all go away!

Thanks everyone.

I was just quoting what a pathologist told me. He said that normal people have smooth bones. Just look at the skeletons on display, do they have bumps all over their bones?? I also get the bumps on my hands, at the base of some fingers.

By the way, only dead people visit his office. In case someone missed the joke.

I have small bumps on both my shins. I also have larger bumps on the middle of both my forearms in almost the exact same place. The one on my left arm feels detached now. The one on my right arm is bigger and feels attached. This scared me I thought these were gumma tumors. I even got a rpr test which was negative and I got a fta-abs test too which was negative. Can lyme do this with the bones?
