I was reading a MD Dr's site who is
Dr Burrascano. Who takes the CORDYCEPS?

I have taken the Coenzyme Q-10 and I tell you!!! it was amazing how great I felt.
This was about 3 years ago, and was working with a ND that had me on this. He had t a pure form that was used for all his cancer patients. He specialized in cancer/alternative therapies, but did agree with the drugs some need.
Anywyas, I felt so energized, and it was unreal. I may try it again, forgot about it, or use this mushroom.

Anyone have good results with this mushroom?

I was penduluming awhile back and my pendulum said I wanted the ****AKE mushroom.
I bough it and deadly herxing but felt much more energy. I am a blood type B, and this is fabulous for us.

I tried it later and it gave me too much energy, as in stimulated me and I felt like loosing it in head. i have to be careful as the lyme affects my mind and if I stimulate too much or the wrong way, I am sicker.

I use cordyceps.

Ask anyone who knows me. They all say, how are you doing so well when you have late lyme. I owe it to three things: (and none of these mean others dont do these and stay ill,it just works for me)
a) Prayer
b) Cordyceps and LingShi mushroom pills
(there are many cordyceps, I use the one that is formulated with ginger and a couple other things, but ginger is in the label)
c) antibiotics

I dont know my blood type. My daughter is O, and my hubby is A, I think I must be O.

I do have a lot of energy, but not crazy or spinny just stamina from the cordyceps.

There are two different brands I have used. One is "new chapter" mycomedicinals. and the other I dont have the bottle for anymore, so I dont remember. I will check it out at the store next time. I actually prefer the other one, but they were out last time I was there and I needed it right away.

It is a fungus that starts out as a parasite in underground moth larvae, invades their system, kills them and then grows from their head. the Chinese name for it apparently means "plant-worm."

(As someone else pointed out earlier, many substances we take have equally gross family trees. )

Cordyceps:

"grows on the caterpillar larvae of insects belonging to the order Lepidoptera, e.g. moths belonging to the genus Hepialus (Hepialidae). It is presumed that part-spores (and conidia?), when encountered by the suitable host, may germinate and penetrate into the larva, where the fungus proliferate and infiltrate the circulatory system and finally kill the larva.

During autumn the mycelium stromatizes, and the larva becomes sclerotioid, leaving the exoskeleton of the larva intact. From sclerotified larvae the stipitate-capitate stromata develop the next spring or early summer, producing perithecia and ascospores. The conidial state, Paraisaria dubia, may develop on the same larva a few weeks after the perfect state. The fungus usually turn up on the same locality every year.'' http://www.uio.no/conferences/imc7/NFotm99/August99.htm

There is something you can get in Canada (I don't know if it is available in the States - but most likely if ordered off of the website) called Immune Fx made by Biomedica Labs
http://www.recoverymedicine.com/immune_fx.htm

I do believe this is the same company that makes "Recovery" and they use the product *nutricol* as well in the ImmuneFx.

It contains the mushrooms (six - cordyceps is the second ingredient) as well as many anti-oxidants.

Have a look at the web site.

I bought a bottle a while ago, but never tried it. I get overwhelmed with all the supplement info sometimes. However, after reading this, I am going to give it a whirl for sure. Maybe it will help me wake up!

Sleepy.

lymeherx001,

No, I don't think you're wrong - it seems to be a fungus, therefore a mushroom. Although ya got me, honestly. Maybe someone will wander by with the real answer.

Iknow this is one of the many herbs (25-30)squashed into the tiny round pills that I take from Dr. DHonden from India...

I've felt great on his protocol...much more energy, head clarity as he 'balances' my body free of wind inbalance and kidney inbalance which were my two probelms according to him and eastern medicine. I don't know all the herbs he has me on..they're packed into these pills, I take 3 different ones 3times a day....theyare all natural , picked off the hills in tibet and made into prescriptions that he recommendd for me personally to help 'balance' out my body last june. my son has his own, which are totally different based on his symtposm..he too is feeling great.

WE see dr. Dhonden again this NOv. when he comes to Ny...Dr H sent me to him originally...I guess like anything else, alternative medicine works for some ad not others. He also has me on a strict diet, not to lose weight, but food to avoid that my certain body with it's imbalnaces can't tolerate ..this will put me back in balance adn make me feel better. again, my son and I have different foods to avoid..

for example I can't have anyting with mustard or mustard seeds in it, or pork, or cerain fruit, like cantelope, avacado or watermelon...and coffee is a big no no..

same for my son..coffee big no no, he said basically it throws every bodyout of balance...my son can have no poultry or anyting with wings, no large fruits, no nuts, or pnut butter, etc...

but my basic point was that cordyceps is one of the ingredients he puts fresh in these herbal balls for us, and it, along wit all the others has been effective for us...

my son no longer takes his abx sicne his last visit with dr. jones, and dr. H wants to slowly take me off mine starting in Oct. maybe pulse me twice a week and see how i do..

Both lyme doctors feel that now that I'm getting my immune system built up and my body 'in balance' it can probably handle whatever is left of the lyme on it's own without abx..jordan's been doing great!

If anyone wants info email me. CRime of lyme call me back..things have calmed down and I can give you more info now and how to get in touch with Dhonden if you want..

Not saying it will work for all, or everyone should try it...just thought I"d tell you about it adn that it's working for us, that's all.

Lisa

I've tried cordyceps a couple of times (Pharmanax) -- I think I herxed on it? It felt like a herx, anyway. I'm not allergic to fungus/mushrooms and I'm not having any candida problems.

Anyone else get this reaction? Guess I should try it again....

Just changed my bicillin routine to 2 injections at the same time -- makes me sooooo tired the next day. And I was feeling so feisty for a while, too. Hells bells and buckets of blood, but this stuff is annoying. I'd do almost anything to feel more energetic.

Thanks for all the good info in this post.

And BTW, the puppy is the best therapy!

This stuff is great! I was given cordymax by my dr ran out and am now using the new chapter. One of the effects is it also increases your sex drive. Not all bacteria and fungus are bad for you. The good ones keep the bad ones in check.

Do we know at all if the cordyceps has any adverse effect with abx or all the supplements we take? I checked on a few sites and can't get a clear picture of interactions. I am on about 10-15 supplements, as many of us are.

I could definitelly use an increase in sex drive..

Im 26 and have had a diminishing libido since i was 19...

Now i have no libido.. no such attraction to the opposite sex..

THIS SUCKS

anyway ive tried

yohimbee- (made me manic, parinoid and i felt like blood was coming out of my skin)

Horny Goat weed- (worked a little made me an insomniac)

Androsterone-(testosterone precurser,, worked a couple a times only for 2-3 minutes)

NADH--(whoa!! this stuff was powerfull at first,, could only handle 1/4 tab,, libido increased big time and energy,,to much with coffee----

The nadh tolerace grew quick within 2 weeks,,
the effects dropped off dramatically, and it also contributed to insomnia. If i dont touch it for a while then go back to it, this works for maybee 30 minutes.

Wellbutrin--(whoa! again,, seems way stimulating and huge side effects at first.
Could only handle 1/8 tab, if i took the 100mg as perscibed i would have gone to the er.--

Anyway worked myself up to 150mg a day, in several doses, then started taking the SR.

This is working a little, i notice i see alot more color which is good,, sex drive is increased a little,, but it is also stimulating on the heart and motor systems,.

I really am desperate for a libido again.
Cant think that im 26 with no sex drive.
and went through 2 years of major depression where i was exhausted sooo foggy in pain out of work and cried alot!!!

Weve all been through a lot compared to other people..

They have it easy!! With their high sex drive and viagra till their 80!!! whats the deal..

Sorry to ramble on but the mention of libido got me thinking of myself

I was experimenting with the andro.

My LLMD tested testosterone 6 months ago,, it was fine.

I think its just the fog combined with pain any screwy neurotransmitters and psycological blocks...

I did have my neurotransmitters tested and they were 1/3 rd of even a low baseline!
dopmaine serotonin and norepinephrine

This when i was very sick though

weightlifting hurts too much,

but my LLMD says that i need to put on some muscle mass.

I belive that muscle is better then fat with this and most diseases.

The fat stores the neurotoxins and endotoxins.

I know when i lost 60 pounds 3 years ago I felt great. Probabbly due to my increased immune system, and the release of all those toxins.

I cut out sugar and carbs too.
All i was eating was eggs with peppers and onions in the morning. Diet coke. Coffee with 2 teaspoon of sugar in the morning(not much)

I had gained 15-20 pounds of muscle back now. I tell you, if you can only muster up the energy it would help a lot to lift. Any exersize at all is great. Boost your spirits and get the endorphins going.

Thats great to hear that you gained some muscle back.

I too love to excersise, but as of this last year I wake up with tremendous foor and leg pain from it, and more disturbed sleep.

I think it might have something to do with the toxins moving around. Ive heard this before.

Now I try to excersise at least 3 times a week which gives my feet a rest.

I take cordyceps regularly and have been for at least a year...on the recommendation of my acupuncturist.

Unfortunately, Lymeherx, it hasn't helped at all wtih my libido, but I think it's been great for helping me increase both my mental and physical stamina.

Which other brands are good? Pharmanex seems hard to get.

I get a customized formula from a naturopathic doctor, but you can google for the brand of Seven Forests or Pine Mountain. They have a couple formulas.

Source Naturals, 1st Chines Herbs, Plum Flower, Gaia, New Chapter . . . are some quality places. I think New Chapter has a product called "adrenal support" as a capsule.

As a tincture: Herb Pharm and Rain-Tree are two top places.

You can search at various links below:

* Endocrine system

* Cordyceps

* Ashwagandha

* Siberian Ginseng

* Rhodiola

* Schizandra

Rhodiola can be too stimulating, however, so I'd suggest beginning with one of the others - or a formula.

--

you can also read more about each individual herb at PubMed.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez

Note: there are different names for each herb. Once you see the latin name, you may find additional abstracts by searching that, too.

at ITM - www.itmonline.org

VRP - www.vrp.com - upper right hand corner, scroll from products to articles for search.

While not all the adrenal herbs are mentioned in each of these books - they all discuss the endocrine system in regard to lyme treatment. The Singleton book is the best in terms of space and attention given to this subject.
