Do you have access to a library? I would get a copy of Dr Hauser's book on prolo. He has one specifically on head pain, i think.

The only title I have is the one at the end of this list. I know he has about 8 books on prolo.

The effects last 1-2 weeks, but after 24/7 pain, I'll take that. And each time the pain returns, it's much less than the time before. So maybe soon, I won't have to go anymore!

Hope you get feedback on the prolotherapy - although I really don't see all that much difference in the process. But hey, what do I know?

But the doctor was familiar with prolotherapy. I bought a book, read it, and decided to give it a try. Not only did it not work, but the doctor carelessly punctured my spinal canal. I missed two weeks of work due to spinal headaches. That was on top of my perennial tension/sinus headaches. The doctor never suggested prolo to eliminate my usual headaches.

If I had to do it all over again, I would include a magnesium malate regimen along with that.

Upon finishing the prolotherapy shots and physical therapy, I still had pain in my shoulder, even though it was a lot more mobile than it had been. I resolved myself to having to live in some pain.

I had run out of magnesium glycinate and figured I'd just finish up a bottle of magnesium malate I had sitting around. I was taking around 800mg/day. In about a week, I noticed that I had no more pain in my shoulder. It had literally vanished. The only thing that changed was the type of magnesium I was taking. The type of pain I was experiencing isn't something that would just "vanish" on its own.

I don't know how that would work for 24/7 head pain, though. My injection was given right at the site of the pain...in my shoulder. I have no idea where they would inject you for head pain.

I went to an osteopath for my injections.

It's up to you if you want to try these shots, provided it's an appropriate therapy for chronic headaches. LymeToo gave you some great links to research this with.

Sol, did you have the VAX-D for back/disc pain? I've heard it's hit or miss and expsensive. I've also heard that Prolo may not work on pain from lumbar disc bulges.

You will note under the section "Treatment"
#3. the Cervicogenic Headache treatment described with procaine and proliferant, dextrose and glycerine mix, falls under
Prolotherapy. I have described it at length somewhere here on Lymenet a long time ago, what the purpose is for the using the proliferant, etc. When done for the right purpose and done well, it is great.

Neural Therapy is done usually with procaine only, or an added factor such as DMPS when the problems are metal related.

Dr. C patients - did you have a separate appointment for prolotherapy? His office said today to just tell him when we are there. We talked about it at Jake's last visit and he didn't have time to do it. I just want to be prepared.
