Well Dobie Gal...

Yes and no....rumor has it that said Doctor was extradited from Europe. The truth of this I do not know.

He sure is in a heap of trouble now, and I hear all the stuff from Texas is going to hit him in the butt as well.

This brings us to the point of all this...his THEORY was good, on the surface, and to non-MDs as well as some supposedly sharp lay people. Did heat kill the Lyme bacteria?

Problem then, and now...no one can prove the bacteria exist for a long term after high doses of abx...and no one can prove they can't...thus the two camps of thought.

Only this type of research, and it is being done as we speak, can truly bring us a cure.

If the bacteria truly evade the immune system, (not because the immune system is depressed) because it becomes stealthy, helping the immune system is going to be moot. If abx cause seroconversion of the flagellate form of the bacteria into the cyst form...helping the immune system will again be for naught. You can't fight what you can't see...even if you are strong.

Bachynsky did not really know if his protocol was working, and it SEEMED to work for some, not for others, and then again it killed some folks.

Ask any Ilads doctor for proof of one theory vs. the other and if they are truthful they will tell you there isn't any...yet.

By the way...published papers mean squat if the results of the studies are not replicated or substantiated by experts in the field...this goes for any of the sciences. Do you remember the fiasco over Nuclear Fusion?

Because one reads a paper does not mean that it is a varifiable study, and that we should all run like the desperate Lemmings we seem to be.

Likewise it is NOT wise to take MEDICAL ADVICE from someone who is NOT an MD.

Benicar, Norvasc, ALL the blood pressure drugs cause lightheadness, fatigue, etc. for the first week or two. ASK ANY PHARMACIST!!!

Don't believe me...you have a phone...call and ask.

Those of you on Benicar, myself included are NOT having a HERX in the beginning...you are simply getting adjusted to the drug...the same way people that DO NOT have Lyme adjust...with the same symptoms.

Don't believe me...ask a Doctor of Pharmacology.

Now...let's try to get better and be careful at the same time. People did not do so in the past, and some died.

ETHICS??? GOOD ETHICS dictate being cautious and warning people that something COULD BE DANGEROUS...not blindly following internet protocols...

Yes, do what you have to, but BE CAREFUL. Talk with your MD and your Pharmacist.

Peace, Love and Wellness,
JRW

24...I agree except for those PHD's that try to work outside their fields and propose ideas without any clinical research. That is the difference here.

Don't you think HgH has been thoroughly researched by the drug companies?

I talked to Sankyo Pharma and they did not think much of the new use for Benicar...in fact they steted there were no long term studies at that dosage level.

The difference between ILADS doctors, and doctors doing LYME research at proper institutions is that they have experience and depth of knowledge. This is too complex a bacteria to have such a one size fits all
"cure."

Not to mention giving medical advice without a license...very illegal and dangerous.

Unseen but not un perceived.

God I hope he can do something that isn't interminably long and boring this time.

24...you are missing my point...not Marshall.

As for why...I really have nothing left to lose.

But for others, especially those who are NOT long term like many others and myself, give the abx a chance...many have been helped to the point of no symptoms.

Question...I thought this was a LYME DISEASE board? How are some people who do not have Lyme, by LLMD's standards, posting their results? We care for everyone to get better, but it is very deceptive and dishonest to pose as someone who does have Lyme when the opposite is true.

But then again, this whole deal is fishy...

For me to try anything is no big deal...

For me try to get anyone else to try something that might hurt them, is something I would never do.

Peace,love and wellness,
JRW

JR, your post makes lots of sense, to me anyway. 24-bit, I don't write this meanly in any way, but you sure get aggressive with people at times. JR wasn't saying anything wrong at all.

It's too bad the ICHT couldn't have been further studied, in terms of safer analogues, as the idea makes a heck of a lot of sense and when it worked, it really worked (Roseanne, James Johnson).

(quote from Bryan)
I knew Dr. Bachynsky, I did ICHT in Italy. It helped for a few months, but nothing lasting. He was a great guy. Genuinely interested in helping, although a bit flakey and scatter brained. God bless the man.(end quote)

For people who are new here, it should be pointed out that Bachynsky is not a doctor. He lost his license and served 11 years in prison for fraud committed against insurance companies when he was giving DNP shots for weight loss in Texas.

He made millions on that and after serving time, went first to Switzerland (probably where his mony was hidden) to open a clinic to use DNP (a weed killer)for treating Cancer and Lyme disease.

When they got onto him in Switzerland, he went to Italy and opened another clinic. He charged $20,000 per treatment there. The clinic was closed after 4 people died while being treated. He is under inditement in Italy for murder.

He fled the country and came back here, evidently. According to Veronesa, an Italian newspaper,Italy is seeking to extradite him back there for prosecution.

It looks like he got into some other scam since he fled back here. This time in Federal Court for:

Not exactly a "great guy" by most people's standards, I hope.

Enough with the still sick patients trying to defend this criminal.
............................
Houston Chronicle
East Texas doctor to go on trial for fraud
Accused of bilking Medicare, illegally treating cancer

TEXARKANA -- An East Texas podiatrist is scheduled for trial here next month on charges of bilking Medicare and insurance companies out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and illegally treating cancer patients with a chemical commonly used in pesticides.
While prosecutors allege that the procedure led to the deaths of at least four people, some of James Naples' desperate patients say the treatment was their only hope and it had prolonged their lives.
The suicide of one of Naples' partners has been connected to the investigation of possible fraud at the 63-bed hospital that Naples heads in nearby New Boston. Investigators say podiatrists at New Boston General Hospital charged Medicare and insurers for foot surgeries that were performed by residents not yet certified, a violation of federal law.
In March, a federal grand jury indicted Naples and nine co-defendants on charges ranging from racketeering to Medicare fraud.
The indictment says Naples, who is not certified to practice medicine above the ankle, led the other doctors to overbill Medicare and persuaded an assistant to help him perform unauthorized cancer research. Federal Magistrate Harry McKee said that if a jury finds that Naples' experiments led to the deaths of the four patients, he could get life in prison.
Keith Naples, son of James and administrator of New Boston General Hospital, said, "We vehemently deny all the accusations and look forward to proving our innocence in court."
Also indicted were New Boston General Hospital, Dr. Philip Hahn, Dr. John White, Dr. Gregg Petty, Dr. Frederick Day, Dr. Glenn Feeback, Linda Velvin, Cynthia Capps and Shannon Richardson.
The indictment lists 134 patients whose podiatric treatment was done by residents instead of the doctors listed on their Medicare claims. Documents filed by the prosecution say at least $150,000 in Medicare and insurance payments were spread among several bank accounts to make them harder to trace.
But to some, the older Naples was a saint. A father of six, he was very involved with his church and allowed hard-luck families to live rent-free in houses he owned. He used his private jet to fly a boy to Indianapolis for special cancer treatments. His civil attorney and his patients said he believed he was at the cutting edge of a very promising cancer treatment.
Three dozen employees, church members and neighbors wrote letters to McKee asking for Naples' release from jail following indictment. McKee ultimately allowed Naples to post a $100,000 cash bond, but revoked his passport and barred him from using the private plane.
Federal prosecutors painted Naples as a flight risk, noting that he owns a clinic in Mexico where he allegedly performs more cancer-drug experiments with less scrutiny.
A month after the FBI searched Naples offices in November 2001, his business partner, Joseph Greenspan, committed suicide. A prosecutor reported that one of Naples' alleged co-conspirators, Feeback, is on the lam in Hungary, although a defense attorney said Feeback soon will turn himself in. And they noted the doctor's business dealings with convicted white-collar criminals, including a former Houston physician and a San Antonio money launderer.
Naples, who had gotten wealthy through successful medical and real estate deals, looked to expand his medical practice by obtaining the patent for a controversial cancer treatment from Dr. Nicholas Bachynsky. Bachynsky, who began his practice in Houston, is the Food and Drug Administration's poster child in a campaign against some risky, unauthorized cancer treatments.
In a paper titled "Diet Drug Danger Dj Vu," the government details Bachynsky's claim that he can cure cancer in some patients in just two weeks for $15,000 to $35,000. The doctor maintains that an intravenous solution of 2,4-Dinitrophenol speeds up metabolism, causing high fevers that kill off cancer cells, but not healthy cells.
In a few cases, the FDA said, the practice has shown promise on small areas of the body to enhance radiation therapy.
The FDA, however, banned use of the chemical as a medicine in 1938 after some patients using it for weight loss died or went blind. Dinitrophenol, or DNP, was one of three main medicines that prompted the FDA to begin requiring tests on new drugs. It is now classified as a poison in the United States and is mixed into insecticides and photo-processing chemicals, among a host of industrial uses.
Bachynsky was convicted in 1989 and served eight years in federal prison for tax fraud and for billing insurance companies and the Department of Defense for the weight-loss treatments. The FDA estimates his clinics throughout Texas defrauded patients of $15 million to $37 million.
Texas and New York medical boards revoked his licenses in 1990. Italian authorities last fall charged him with aggravated voluntary manslaughter in connection with the deaths of four patients.
In 1994, Naples visited Bachynsky in federal prison outside Three Rivers, a small South Texas town. Naples later named a South Pacific financial shelter the Three Rivers Trust. Through a series of trusts formed in the Cook Islands, Bahamas and British Virgin Islands, Naples bought the hospitals in New Boston and Monterrey, Mexico.
He also bought the patent to Bachynsky's treatment. Bachynsky's current whereabouts are unknown.
Federal agents seized powdered DNP from a pharmacy near Naples' clinic. Prosecutors said in court testimony that the doctors mixed the chemical with water and injected it into patients.
Desperation led terminally ill cancer patients to New Boston General, said the son of one of Greenspan's patients.
"He probably would do it all again, knowing the risks," Carl Wormington said of his father, Roy. "Dr. Greenspan had done so much for him but he still had cancer all over his brain. I didn't want to see him suffer. We would have tried anything."

...................
Varese news
roughly translated
05,05,2004) Nicholas Bachynsky, the American doctor who practiced to ``cure'' cancer at a private hospital of Laveno Mombello has been arrested in Florida. Bachynsky used, in its therapy, dnp (dinitrofenolol) a substance that is highly toxic and lacks effectiveness. The drug is outlawed in the USA and to the doctor, condemned for swindling insurances; the authorization has been revoked since 1990 to practice the medical profession.
The inquiry varesina, lead from the substitute proxy Augustin Abbot with the financial police, is begun from one series of deaths suspiciones. The enquirers have perquisito precious Villa and enrolled in the registry of she inquires the doctor to you American, with the imputation of voluntary homicide to continuation of the dead women of four patients. The power of attorney of the republic is preparing documents in order to ask the authorities Americans the extradition. the risk is that the culprit can on bail be rilasciato, like prescribes the laws of the state of Florida. To that point, for the magistracy, it would become more difficult to catch up it.

The point is " it is not the messenger, it is the message that is important"..... ICHT is a viable treatment for lyme under controlled circumstances and perhaps with different medications.

Even Dr F. at Columbia agreed that high temps ( over 103 ) kill lyme dead.... " Every patient who has had a life threatening fever has emerged free of lyme".

Merits research..folks who have benefited, really benefited and were cured in a matter of days. My physician friend told me there are some clinics that practice ICHT in the US, primarily for cancer patients..with temps as high as 107...everything is worth investigating...especially a 10 day treatment that "potentially" gives you back your life.

It is not true that everyone who has had a life-threatening fever has emerged free of Lyme.

Years ago - early 90's-Dr. Heimlich of the famed Heimlich maneuver had people become infected with malaria on purpose in order to "cure" them of Lyme disease. Some people went to central America to try to get infected with malaria. Others went to an expensive "clinic" in Mexico.

They all had definite life threatening temperatures while on Malaria which were maintained for nearly too long in some cases.

In all cases, after a term of feeling all better, they all had remission and most went to feeling worse than they had before.

Why was this brought up, anyway??

AFAIK ICHT isn't available anymore unless you want to do it yourself.

Beating a dead horse is one thing but this borders on necrophilia....

Charlie,
I assume that JRW brought it to our attention as a reminder. He has been worried that this new Benicar therapy is being promoted too enthusiastically and he wanted to remind folks about the ICHT fiasco.

Once a topic is initiated, then it has a way of taking a life of its own here at LymeNet, as most of us know.

Also, it's been in the news again currently, so it was timely. See the dateline on the translation of the Italian news article.

A lot of people have died from conventional cancer treatments, but no one is going to jail for this. It is acceptable to fail conventionally. It is criminal to fail (or even succeed) unconventionally.

I am taking no position on Bachansky. Just pointing out how much hypocrisy there is in medical science.
