About 4 days into Mepron/zith/artemisinin tx for babesia, my husband's temperature returned to normal and occaisionally very slightly above. In general he feels slightly better now, even with the elevated temp; I think his metabolism is starting to regulate itself better, which suggests that the hypolthalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis is getting back on track.

There's quite a bit online about the HPA, thyroid, and metabolism.

I don't find it surprising that you would respond several days after taking the Biaxin. The effects of die off due to abx often occur several days after you begin abx, and then again about a month into treatment, recurring on a 4 week cycle. You may be one of the lucky ones who herxes very mildly.

If you're thinking of reaction as in allergy to Biaxin -- usually that goes along with a rash or itching and some kind of swelling. If you do suspect an allergic reaction, though, I'd definitely follow up on it immediately. You can also talk to your pharmacist about this.

Definitely document what you're feeling and talk to your doc about it at your next appt. If you're concerned, go ahead and talk to your doc now. My own experience, for what it is worth, is that the temp fluctuations are pretty normal in the ranges you're reporting.

There is not much I can add to the good advise you have already been given, other than I have also had the fluctuations in temp.

I have had low thyroid problems for a long time which would make me feel very cold. Now with treatment for lyme, ususally I run a fever while herxing. So it seems up and down for me.

Hang in there, with treatment things usually get better.

Since I've been on tinidazole and biaxin, I have seen an increase in my body temp, and with consistency - 98 or so. Usually not higher. I'm having night sweats and do feel a bit feverish at night, but I don't have a fever. I think I'm getting used to having a normal body temp again.
