just a thought i live in southcounty area and i alway,

here about someones dog who has tested positive for lyme. and they are usually very sick.

you mean that vets can diagnose lyme diease but local ducks cant.

humm...

maybe we should let them test us.

just a thought, stupid huh!!!

fact ' my vet told me very rarely do cats contract lyme diease.

lyme diease:::
comming to a family near you,

Not silly. After all animals have the disease. In fact, someone I used to work with her aunt in Germany goes to a vet for treatment.

Vets have a unique view. It does no good to try to convince a dog that they need to seek mental health counseling.

Our vet believes that if it looks like lyne to treat for lyme. They test only if improvement isn't made.

My dog had bladder issues(dalmation) and was put on abx for a month. All his arthritis went away. The vet and I had a light bulb moment and realized he had lyme. A thorough exam revieled a heart murmur too. He hadn't had it at his last exam. The abx helps both the dog's problems.

I KNOW MANY PEOPLE WHOS DOGS ARE VERY SICK FROM LYME. they have tested positive too.

I know vets feel different about the diease,
mine always ask about my treatment,,,

i see our vet at least once every three months because we have a few dogs and, cats and there is always drama going on.

really though how do you tell your dog its all in there head ,,,that they are crazy, hypocondracts,

when thay are having joint pain, neck in my oldest dog, three times but usually shot helps and she is ok.

and sezures my little brown dog only 4 lbs he only had one,

so vet said we would watch and see if it returns.

it just crazy , the whole thing.

i havent had my dogs tested yet but if they get any more problems i will.

each time both dogs have recovered,, but they are getting older and im sure it will get harder for them.

thanks for reply

I recently did a mass mailing to all of the area Veterinarians on issues concerning Lyme.

This is interesting. I was just talking with an old friend whom I haven't seen in a long time (she is a vet)

I was telling her of my frustrating attempts at getting diagnosed and treated last year.

She honestly could not understand why in the world I was driving six hours to see a doctor or why I had had such a hard time getting abx.

She told me that the testing is so unreliable, even in animals, that if a dog comes in lame, she automatically starts them on doxy without waiting for test results. If they get better, then you know it was Lyme. If they don't get better then you look for something else. After all antibiotics are not a big deal.

After hearing her talk about this, I thought, gee wouldn't it be nice if the ducks took that view- try the antibiotics first, if it doesn't help THEN look for something else.

She also told me that she sees lots of dogs with Lyme disease in her practice here in Florida. WHY IS IT THEN, THAT THE DUCKS I TALKED TO ALL SAID "THERE IS NO LYME DISEASE IN FLORIDA"!

Maybe we should all be going to vets after all. They sure seem to be more educated about Lyme, thats for sure.

I BET IF THE VET GOT SICK WITH LYME DIEASE AND FOR SOME CRAZY REASON COULDNT FIND A DUCK TO TREAT THEM.

I BET THEY WOULD TREAT THEMSELF.ALL THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO ON PERSCRIPTION IS,

RENAME THEM SELFS
AS EITHER

RUFFUS OR BRANDY.
LOL.

THAT WOULD WORK !!

MAYBE ILL BECOME A VET I ALWAYS WANTED TO BUT I JUST WAS TO SICK TO GET TO GO TO SCHOOL. BUT I ALWAYS TALK ABOUT IT.

HUMMMM.???

I know all varieties of doctors who treat themselves.

I have a friend who is a shrink at a mental care facility. He has been most interested in the articles about severe neuro lyme and has requested patients that aren't responding to standard shrink meds be evaluated for lyme. He is amazed at the variation in my mental abilities and condition. I think he's glad he is not my doc!

I was reinfected last July while on a walk with our three month old springer puppy.
None of my friends or family really believed me until the dog's test came back positive. She didn't have any symptoms, but her blood test was positive. She was on doxy for three months and is fine now.
I'm still battling the babesiaWA1 and lyme...
